Question about fish/seaweed fert and garlic planting.
Comments (1)This is all a VERY unusual approach so much more information would be required to provide any useful response. I' freely hazard the guess that the vast majority of garlic growers do not find this approach necessary. But that choice is yours. You might want to review garlic discussions over on the Alliums forum here before doing this. That said, quality brand name water soluble powdered fertilizers purchased from a reliable source, that have not passed their expiration date are, generally speaking, more shelf stable (have a longer storage life) than liquids. That is because the N in the mixture rapidly dissipates when dissolved and/or exposed to air. Further, given the oils contained in such mixtures they do NOT remain well mixed over time. They separate. Thus the label instructions to shake well prior to using the liquids. Given that I would not mix up any large amounts of either. I would mix only the amount required at time of use. If you can provide proper dry storage for the powder and if you consider the eBay vendor to be reputable, fine. Otherwise I would buy the liquid. Dave...See MoreQuestion about feeding fish
Comments (3)Wow...First off I would just like to say that you have a very Beautiful Pond....You did an excellent job on it... I feed my fish 1-3 times a day as much as they can eat in around 3 minutes....I have heard that you can feed them up to 3 times per day as much as they can eat for 5 minutes but i dont feed them that much....Remember that the fish will prolly eat nonstop if you keep feeding them..They dont know when to stop so I know overfeeding them isnt good for them..I am no Expert but this is just what I have read on Numerous forums and sites....The fish really dont need much food from us anyways...They can pretty much survuve off of the bugs that land in the water and off of the Algae in the pond...Hope this helps...I really love your pond...~raskal...See MoreA question about fish food for Koi and goldfish
Comments (3)Vicki, I just bought fall and spring food for my koi and goldfish as well. The fall/spring food is for temps from 55 or so to 65 or so, and the difference is the protein content. The fall food should have much less protein and much more carbs. My fall food has 11 % protein, while the summer food had 36 %. I don't think it matters so much what brand it is, just check for the temperature and protein. It's on the back in the small print. :) Mary...See MoreQuestion about Fish gook, EPsom salts, MG etc
Comments (8)Yep thats what I do too Mike and every few weeks I give them a foliar spray of compost tea early in the morning. Daniella, I buy my compost tea at an organic nursery already made up but I got the stuff to do it myself now and saw on the garden show how to do it using an old panty hose leg or cheesecloth to hold the compost then you don't have to strain it. I mix the fish emulsion with this when I spray. I don't always have time to go do all that individually to all the plants so I just do it when I have the time....See MoreWalnutCreek Zone 7b/8a
