Are you quilting this weekend? June 27-29
Comments (8)The weekends surely do roll around quickly and I can't believe July is close upon us. Seeing how the temperatures are supposed to hit near ninety today, and the humidity is way up there, I cried uncle and made the air conditioning on and came inside for a mid-day break. After lunch, I FINALLY got to the sewing room and actually felt motivated to tackle the WIP, my puff quilt. Today saw the two knotted halves be joined successfully and the seam down the backing pinned to hand sew. I brought it downstairs where it's cool, and plopped that baby on the dining room table, and might just get that seam run today. When it's done there are just two more sides to bind and it's a wrap. Man...........it's HEAVY. Just edited my post to add the picture. The backing fabric is a border print, so that when you turn the quilt down, the design shows and it's repeated at the bottom as well, so either side of the quilt is 'up'. One more foot of hand stitching and it's done, other than to bind off the last two edges. This post was edited by calliope on Sun, Jun 29, 14 at 10:42...See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? Comments (10)Rita, I saw lots of water where it shouldn't be on my way to and from Jacksonville yesterday. I had fun at the quilt show. I was thinking it's kind of silly to drive for five hours (there and back) to spend a couple of hours at a quilt show, but I really enjoy it! There were many, many traditional quilts this year. There were lots of modern ones and art ones, too, but definitely more traditional ones than I've seen in a long time. I bought a "mystery box" from one of the vendors. It was $40 for a box with 5 yards of fabric and a pattern. The only hint was three small paint chips hanging on the box. The one I picked had chips in dark red, dark blue, and a dark sage-green. I waited till I got home to open the box, and the fabrics are a reddish-orange, black pinstripe, gold, dark green, and a black-background small floral print. The pattern is a pinwheel star with sashing. I like it! It will make a 42 x 55 quilt. Now to get around to making it... Donna...See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? Sept. 22-23
Comments (8)We’re down in the islands for a week, and I haven’t even gotten my machine out yet. Maybe today. Spent most of the day trying to figure out how our new Hotpoint washer works. I bought it sight-unseen over the phone when our old GE died the day before we left at the end of May.. The really exciting news is that I have hot water wash for the first time ever here! We have gravity feed water, and the pressure/flow wasn’t enough to activate the Bosch instant hot water heater we bought for the master bath. Since the laundry shed is lower down and the water feed is straighter, I took the risk of having the heater installed there. It works! After Irma, I had to drag all the white covers Stateside to wash, but now I can try to clean some remaining things here. Then just need to replace the ruined covers and pillows that blew away....See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? Sept. 13-15

I am having shoulder surgery the week between! Yikes. Sharon, so sorry for the loss of your quilting friend suffered. It's always tough and I am sure the quilt will be a good comfort. We had friends over last night & worked our Lions club pancake breakfast this morning. We picked up our granddaughter this afternoon and have her until after church tomorrow. I am finally getting a chance to check emails & look at my computer!! I did decide on a design for my brother's VFW quilt and will get fabric tomorrow and get it washed. Not sure how much I will get cut (if any!) DS & DGD will come for dinner tomorrow night since DIL has women's group at church. busy times. Sue...See Morejackier123
