Are you quilting this weekend? April 13-15
Comments (19)Well last weekend I finished sewing together my Grandma's queensize quilt top, still have the border to make for it. And last week I got a large sage green king sheet for the backing, but still need to go to Hancocks this week and get 3 spools of hand quilting sage green thread. Yesterday I made plastic templates for my April Lotto blocks. So tonight and this week will be making my Lotto blocks. And I was delighted to find baby sprouts of giant zinnia and cosmos in my garden this week that my son and I planted. Last year we had awful drought and lost all of my annuals. So far this year we have had good rains so am very thankful for that and am hoping I have annual blooms and am able to collect seeds to replenish my seedbox this year. Since we did not have much of a winter in Louisiana this year the bugs and fire ants are bad and the snakes are really bad with it being so warm. Already killed 2 snakes in the garage this year and apparently I now have a 2 1/2 ft long resident chicken snake in my 16 ft x 20 ft flowerbed it seems to have a hole somewhere amongst my best daylilies, so I have not gotten up the nerve to try and dig and divide daylilies this year. And everywhere locally is sold out of mothballs which run snakes, hopefully local stores will restock soon. Best to you, Sandra...See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? Sept. 13-15
Comments (24)Everyone was busy this weekend! Thanks Marsha and Rosa... practicing is fun and frustrating! Calliope, the puff quilt is pretty slow going because I also started an Irish chain and I keep switching back and forth. I can't just do one thing at a time, but I have a full gallon Ziploc bag full of puffs ready to be stuffed. By the way, last September (a year ago), I started a Rail Fence quilt that I shared here... I'm still working on the binding, but I wanted to tell you that I also quilted the extra backing material that had folded over more times than I can even remember! It was so frustrating, so I know exactly how you feel! I went to my grandmothers house Saturday (the family grilled some food for me since I turn 30 tomorrow.... aaaaahhh) and came away with 6 boxes of fabric! Some of it made me wonder what in the world she was thinking when she purchased it, but a lot of it is really nice! I left a lot of "ugly" stuff behind that they are just going to donate. I also got a really cool lamp called a tangle lamp that can be twisted and turned into different configurations and a small adjustable craft table. I was going to take her Singer 401A, but I need a fourth sewing machine like I need another hole in my head! Also, I didn't have room in the car and couldn't find the foot pedal; if it turns up I may take the machine and donate it to someone who can use it (after playing with it a while first of course)! Comments (21)LOL.....oh well, maybe the lurkers needed a hint on how to check measurements. lol Strange what a camera angle does to the eye, eh? Plus, when a person has weird vision, well, you should see some of the things, Marsha and I have to live with. Now 'that' is weird! Oh wait, no you don't! lol Ok, I'm off to take my nap now....See MoreAre you quilting/sewing this weekend? Sept 12-13
Comments (17)Not going to get much quilting done this weekend. We made a quick trip to my mother's house to do some repairs. Just got back this morning. In 24 hours, we repaired a place in her floor that was damaged by a water leak, replaced overhead light fixtures in 2 bedrooms, replaced a medicine cabinet and replaced an electrical outlet. When I sold my house up there, I stored the whole house in her house and garage. While my husband and son worked on the floor, my daughter in law and I went through 2 rooms of stuff. They took a lot of my son's things home with him, I brought some of my stuff home with me and we took 2 loads to the dump. I am of the philosophy right now that if I have not used it in a few years, I do not need it. There are still 2 stalls in a 3 car garage to go through and another large room in the house, but I have made a dent in it. I have made a goal to go there at least one weekend per month to clean it all out. It is about 2.5 hours away from us, so it is not a bad drive. Val, glad to hear you are through the surgery. Now just make sure you do what the doctor orders. Jackie...See More- 4 years ago
