Oh my Kay!! What an inspiration you are to all of us! You have accomplished more with all your trials than most of us with general good health. Maybe my offer should have been to come get you to help me finish my redo! :) I hope you continue to feel like working in small increments! You are a sweetheart, Kate. I think the fact that for once (and the first time) had made a detailed plan of any plants that were leaving,, moving, or new ones being planted and had cross indexed it. That meant that thie "list-maker" could get an instant sense of a reward each time I was able to type "Done" next to nayitem on the list. That meant even short work days had actual progress to chart.

Julia's hint about putting down a tarp after weeding until she could plant and mulch was a big help too. I didn't use a tarp, but I used large sheets of cardboard and bags of mulch to achieve the same thing...no weeding and re-weeding.

One more load of much so the rest of the pathways and one old daylily section can be mulched and I will be ready for the winter layover....but you know we have to touch up weed all winter or we start way behind thanks to the south and its rampaging vegetation.

Kay - I took your example to heart myself this week, just choosing a few tasks out of the many to accomplish. It can be so hard to start sometimes! But now those plants are moved. And maybe next week I can choose another bed and do some clean up there. Thanks for being an inspiration.

Gee, Kay, what a plan! Impressive! I began lasagna gardening several years ago to decrease grass and weeds. I have modified it to fit my extensive gardens. I put layers of newspapers around my plants and a layer of chopped leaves over that. And then my mulch. Plastic or thick cardboard goes down my pathways with mulch over that. I can't tell you how much this has decreased weeding, increased worm population, and given me generally healthy plants with less need for watering. Everyone probably does something like this but this is what works for me. Take care of yourself.
