Shout out to all the Hoes

Kat and I are being held captive at the Master gardener conference where we are learning such new and innovative things as 1)use mulch and 2)right plant right place.

So tonite we decided to shake things up a bit. After the MG auction of 40 some items there was a "mystery" item. Ohhhhh and Ahhhhh.

It was Kat's GARDEN HOE button and it went for.....drum roll.....$35!!!!!!! so I handed the guy my button and told him to do it again one more time. Bingo, $30! That was the easiest hoe money we've ever made and didn't even break a sweat.(and it all went to the MG program!)

Needless to say we will be putting in another order of buttons as I now feel nikkid.

THanks for asking. It would have hit us dead on changed into an oblong shape instead of round and we barely even had any much needed rain. Did get the high winds though and had to bring all my plants back inside the garage to keep them from blowing away but it made it nice and cool and was able to put in my backyard pond and the front yard larger pond so now looking for some more ponds plants. Gotta go find that thread about flowering plants you wouldn't think to put in a pond. We don't have anything around here to choose from other than the most basic common stuff. I have horsetail rush, water hyacinth, and a tarro and a few other things. I bet I have other things in the yard I could use in it. Just have to find out what, lol..

I have a Nam Doc Mai #4 in the ground here in Pearland. This is its first year in the ground, so time will tell how it does. I'm in Pearland and the tree is planted in a pretty protected area. Also, for winter, I built an enclosure out of garden stakes (it's only about 3 1/2 feet tall right now) which I wrapped in a few layers of frost cloth and then fill with raked leaves. If it gets colder than it's been, I'll probably stick some water jugs in there. I think it's gotten down to 29 so far this year, and it looks good in there. Mine's from Joseph's Nursery too.

I have a combi steam. About 10 months in we had a problem where the water plumbed to it would not shut off when we used the oven. It just poured in to it! We had to shut off the water and then shut off the power to the oven. This reset it and it was fine for a few months until it happened again. Luckily we were able to turn the water off each time or there would have been significant water damage. After the second time Gaggenau replaced the entire oven. So from this respect their customer service was great. There was no argument or back and forth with them at all. Another less dire problem we had was the rubber seal around the door was loose and it is supposed to be attached (glued?), anyway, they were set to replace this but it was resolved with the new unit.

I don't know how you should feel Kristi, after all Kat Hoe brought a better price than Kristi Hoe. It must be that young thing. Ha ha. Good work girls.

Sounds like you need to be teaching some sessions at the conference! Wow... mulch... who would have thought...

Have to admit I'm jealous though. I would love to be at a conference with you two!

I'm glad you gals are having fun!!! but you can't have my button no matter what!! LOL I'm putting in the jewlery box under lock and key.

Hey all, I am upgrading to "dirty garden hoe" this time!
Enjoyed all the comments, we are "hoelicious". My DH said "sometimes ya feel like a hoe---sometimes ya don't" LOL!

attributed to Dorothy Paker, who allegedly said at a 20s cocktail party that she could make a pun out of any word, and was presented with the word horticulture. Try that.

she took a play on the phrase "you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink."

her version, not truly a pun, is pretty brilliant anyway. Especially considering her life.
