Yeah - you should see our eyes light up when someone walks up with a large bundle of empty plastic pots! We ain't proud. In fact I think it was Rootdigger and I that were arm wrestling over the large stack of black plastic gallons last fall - shameless I tell ya! We are all hungry for pots and totally understand if some things show up wrapped in whatever was handy at the time. As a side biz I sell rooted cuttings and seedlings at the local flea market. This market has a large immigrant following. Last year I had the other Datura - not Datura metel, the one that looks just like Jimsonweed. You should have seen the latino customers eyes glaze over. A few of them asked in broken English if I knew what that plant is used for. I replied in my broken Spanglish that I knew exactly what it was used for and that I consider the plant rather dangerous and that I hoped they had more sense than to home brew some hallucinagenics. I sold it as "Deadly Toxic Poison Plant" and sold plenty of them. (for those of you NOT in the know - both Datura and Brugmansia are used in various potions to induce a high or even as a knock-out drug.)

I went to the employment office today - boy, is that place busy!! I met with a counselor and asked about training for a medical coding & billing career. I am a displaced worker - you need a layoff letter, which I have. I am meeting with another guy on Sept 2nd to see what other jobs I would like. I guess the place has had several architects and designers come in looking for work. I brought my resume into a furniture store today, another straight commission job. I don't think I can do that. They sell furniture from custom homes, nice stuff and good prices. They had several customers while I was there but I saw no purchases, just lookers. I never heard back from my ex-employer when I emailed him asking him for an explanation of why I was no longer there. That lack of response is typical for this guy. I must say that Direct Buy place was very strange. And from what I see they cannot beat every price point, like on some of the cabinets. I think I am supposed to have my colonoscopy test this coming Monday. I have not received the appt letter yet. Oh, I did have my interview on the phone with the health care people to continue my coverage last week. Then the gal sent out a letter requesting copies of my bills, etc. I sent those back right away. Then today I get a letter saying everything will be cancelled because I did not show up for an interview. What? The interview was on the phone. So I called and left a message at the DES and also drove over there to ask what that menat. The worker says the computer spits out an auto response but she saw in the system that the interview had taken place. So I was not cancelled. Talk about giving me a scare. So nowadays I am a radio listener, play solitaire on the computer, read the bible, go to church, and sit at the library computer reading email, applying for jobs or coming here. Once a week or so I work at Dillards. Well, thanks again. I am going to start searching for another place to live. Cheaper. I may have to store a lot of my furniture.

Hi Erika! Thanks for the shout out! Just checked in to GW and according to a new thread, I now need to worry about my kids striking their heads on the soapstone. Great~ I was just getting over my worry about cooking my ovaries in front of the Sharp microwave drawer (did you ever read that one?).... I must have missed what you decided on for your island counter? Cannot wait to see it all! There is a lot of anticipation around here regarding your kitchen. Be flattered! I'm relieved that you're loving the faucet on steroids! We are getting our rough plumbing & electrical inspection on Friday. If it passes, we're on to insulation & plastering. I'm hoping cabinets come shortly after! So excited! I'm going down to the house in the morning-I'll post a pic tomorrow on this thread -windows & exterior were being finished up today. We ended up with GM Original Soapstone on the perimeters and a chunky Calacatta for the island. So jealous that you're templating... I'm hoping all these separate choices come together well for the complete kitchen. Honestly, seeing your photos has helped so much. I'm eagerly awaiting your PS26 as that was definitely a "risky" choice for me... A few questions since you're actually using your kitchen: Do you like having runnels? I'm undecided. How are the icebox latches? Any close up photos? Will they be a p.i.t.a if I use them for all of my uppers? I'm between them & the RH utility latches.
