Advice Please! Lighting for Kitchen Island

Our new kitchen will have a 9'x3' island. The room is 19.5'x13'5', and the ceilings are 7' 10" tall.

How to configure lighting over the island? How many? How big?

I've been trying to sketch out layout options based on various articles, but I've reach creative overload status! Please help!

Design Choices:

Cabinets: Benjamin Moore White Dove. Floor: Chestnut. Appliances: stainless.

Walls: White Dove (for now). Knobs and handles: brushed nickel.

Backsplash will be white subway tile with an accent area over the cooktop.

Countertops: Ceaserstone Organic White, Island: Ocean Black Leathered granite (picture below)

Lighting: Recessed lighting except for over island.

Considering various clear glass pendants or drum shade (neutral linen?).

We also have the original 18" kitchen shade from 1955 (pictured below), although the hardware is long gone. Should we use it? If so, with what additional (if any) island light?

Window treatments are undecided (west facing, so light control will important)

Leaning toward woven wood shades, or a fabric valance with solar roller shades

Looking forward to your suggestions. Thank you!

Hello, original 1955 kitchen fixture! Yay or Nay?

(Bernhardt sofa and loveseat are next on the renovation list, purchased new in 1983, they just won't die)
