Anybody Decide To Wallpaper Your Bathroom?
Comments (24)Monicakm, that beaded one WAS one I briefly looked at, but my bathroom is more traditional. If I had contemporary that would definitely be one on my short list...I loved it. I saw it in one of the wallpaper books from an Interior Designer (ID). Thought it could be used almost like a backsplash. It was really gorgeous. The wallpaper I am considering is from the Candice Olson Dimensional Surfaces Book. The glass bead design is called Script Geo $130/roll. You can't tell by the picture, but the background has a beautiful sheen and the glass bead design is raised off the paper. The one with a faint scroll design with a grasscloth type weave is called Filigree on Sisal $140/roll. Those are retail prices, but the Interior Designer can get it for much less....See MoreFinished up the bead board wallpaper project
Comments (20)Thank you, ALL of you, for your thoughtful tips and great decorating advice! I tried hard to learn from you and adapt this room to suite our taste and still conform to the home's older southern Low Country style, and think I succeeded. I'm still debating about building cornices, which I would cover in white fabric, for over the window and door areas, but overall, I'm delighted with the warmth of this room. Moonkat and Oceanna, the painting of the wallpaper didn't alter it much. When the paint was wet it looked as though the shadow of the beads had receded, and I didn't like that, but once the paint dried it looked normal again. It didn't even change the textured feel of the vinyl. I used a satin finish paint, and applied it with a thicker nap roller designed for semi-smooth to rough walls, thinking that the longer nap would help get the paint into those indentations the beading makes. I used a brush at the edges to make sure that all the indented parts were covered. I'm not worried about moisture in the tub area, I had paper here before and it held up beautifully through the antics of a splashing, frolicking grandson who I raised for 12 years. I've got cherished photos of him in this tub with bubbles practically overflowing on the floor...it was his favorite play area. Those days are long over, (he graduates next year.....sigh), the tub only gets used by me, and my splashing days are over! Yayagal and Allison, thanks for mentioning my DS. This is his 4th, and hopefully last tour over there. He just got married a month before he left, and I know his wife would love to have him home, too. And Brutuses, thanks for your invitation, but I've seen the photos of your new home, and your doing a beautiful job with that, all on your own! It's stunning, I especially love your new master bath....See MoreWallpaper for shower?
Comments (7)sochi, This link shows how it's applied and mentions price. Looks like around 20usd per sq.ft. AFAICT (as far as I can tell) Not sure how much installation would cost but it looks about the same skill level as an expert wallpaper hanger. I would love to see this used in a shower with tile wainscoting and wallpaper above the rail. I may think about this for my kitchen backsplash. Let us know if you find out more about it. http://www.behangfabriek.com/c-3076928/wet-bathroom/...See MoreSochi bathroom reveal: shower wallpaper + silestone shower pan
Comments (41)Hi Sochi and Kristin, gorgeous wallpaper projects! I am in correspondence with several Italian fiber glass wallpaper suppliers now and all of them have different waterproofing methods. The main issue I am finding is that the substrate needs to be white in color and smooth. Sochi mentioned the contractor used Schluter KERDI-BOARD but it is orange, so how did you eventually get it white? Krisitin what did your contractor do for substrate? What products were used to waterproof the wall before the application of the glue, wallpaper and sealants? My other concern is that the drywall or cement board (depending on what to use) has to sit on top of my shower pan so I fear it will absorb water is not properly waterproofed. Any guidelines and suggestions will be highly appreciated. Alex...See MoreRelated Professionals
