Anybody Decide To Wallpaper Your Bathroom?
Comments (24)Monicakm, that beaded one WAS one I briefly looked at, but my bathroom is more traditional. If I had contemporary that would definitely be one on my short list...I loved it. I saw it in one of the wallpaper books from an Interior Designer (ID). Thought it could be used almost like a backsplash. It was really gorgeous. The wallpaper I am considering is from the Candice Olson Dimensional Surfaces Book. The glass bead design is called Script Geo $130/roll. You can't tell by the picture, but the background has a beautiful sheen and the glass bead design is raised off the paper. The one with a faint scroll design with a grasscloth type weave is called Filigree on Sisal $140/roll. Those are retail prices, but the Interior Designer can get it for much less....See MoreMy bathroom renovation: Before and after. Many, many pics.
Comments (26)The paint color on the lower half of the wall is just a very light lavender. The upper half is more purple. I actually mixed the lavender myself, by adding a little of the purple paint to some white paint. The fake tile (sheet vinyl) floor came from Linoleum City in Los Angeles. I looked and looked and looked for that vinyl and Linoleum City is the only place that sells it. I called a salesman there and asked about it. He said they had a unique contract with Tarkett (I think) to produce this product and he didn't think it was sold anywhere else in the country. Their number one client is Hollywood. Set-building people buy it by the roll to use on the sets. The sheet vinyl creates the look of early 20 Century hex tile floor in a jiffy. :) The light fixtures and medicine chest are reproductions. The light fixtures came from Rejunvenation Hardware and the medicine chest came from Van Dykes Restoration hardware. All these years of writing about old houses and I finally got to use some of the resources I've been writing about. Thanks for all the nice comments. Comments (36)I like option "B", with some possible tweaks (some of which may have already been mentioned by others): 1. Recess a medicine cabinet above the sink. I did this three years ago and absolutely love the medicine cabinet we ended up with, Kohler, with mirror both inside and out, plus an adjustable magnifying mirror. If I had to renovate a future bathroom, I'd pick this same cabinet again in a heartbeat. Kohler Mirrored Medicine Cabinet 2. It looks like you may end up with several inches of space in the upper left hand corner between the wall and the end of the tub. A. See if it is enough for a narrow storage space - maybe something can fit in there like a 6" pullout, which can be great for storing a variety of personal hygiene items - shampoos, conditioners, body lotions, etc. Look at some kitchen cabinets or rev-a-shalf items for possible fits. Here's an example: Using Narrow spaces Another option would be to use that space to stack rolled-up towels and similar linens. B. Another option would be to use that space for storage from the inside of the tub, as in a deeply recessed niche for the usual assortment of bathing products. 3. Consider putting in partially recessed shelving or cabinetry above the radiator for additional storage. Depending on your decor and budget, you can be pretty creative with something like this wall system, and it give you the option to easily adjust it as your needs change in the future: Kerf modular adjustable wall system 4. Don't forget to consider storage above the door frame, and behind the door itself. You can put a couple of towel racks on the back of the door. And if you have a wall towards the back of the tub, you can add a couple of hooks on the wall partitioning the tub from the narrow storage space, to hang a bathrobe or towel....See MoreOutdated guest bathroom
Comments (24)Wow, thank you all for your suggestions! I didn't expect such a huge response, I really appreciate it! Sorry if I offended anyone by not responding last night, I am a mom of 5 and we are in the middle of settling in here, the bathroom was left like this by previous owners and definitely not my style. I am definitely going to change out the light fixtures, hardware, artwork and paint walls. Not sure about wall paper, that scares me a bit to be honest. A lot of folks mentioned painting the trim white, is that recommended when the whole house has the wood trim and the doors are what they are?...See MoreBeth H. :
