Need help choosing a new color for my kitchen (pics)
Comments (51)msrose - The picture came after the paint. I was wandering around JoAnn Fabric and decided to take a quick look down the art aisle "just in case" there was something that would look great in my new kitchen. I saw this and thought it was perfect! lyban - it's SW Sierra Redwood. And you are absolutely right, cheery and warm is how it makes me feel! pbrisjar - les917 and jejvtr suggested I try something in the rust/terracotta family, so I picked up a sample of the Sierra Redwood. I had actually almost decided on the Mountain Moss, but then I figured I should probably paint up a sample board of the Sierra Redwood considering I had already spent $5 for the paint :) Lo and behold, once I saw it on the sample board I thought, I LOVE this color! I still wasn't sure it would go in the kitchen, but my husband loved the color too, so we decided to paint one wall and see from there. I think the biggest problem I had before was 1 - I couldn't imagine what "went" with the tile and counterop so was really limiting myself and 2 - I was too focused on picking a color that "went" and not focused enough on finding a color that I LIKED. Actually liking the color made me bold enough to try it on the wall. As others have mentioned, I don't think most of us would look at it and say "oh yes that will look great" [well, except for Les and jejvtr ;)] It sort of takes a small leap of faith! Anyway, this has truly been a learning experience with color and I thank you all again!...See MorePlease help me choose rug for foyer - size, style, new or used?
Comments (11)Thanks, prairiedawn. My style actually is more of a rustic/modern country style rather than traditional, although I have a mix of everything! I used BM Baby Turtle in the powder room and laundry room, which are adjacent to the foyer, SW Artifact in the great room, which is just beyond the foyer, and SW Believable Buff and Camelback throughout the rest of the house. roseabby, I spoke to the salesman at Macys and he also mentioned a 2'6" runner may be out of scale. The problem is I do NOT want to cover up most of the wood flooring. Would a smaller area rug placed horizontally across the front doors, rather than a larger run placed vertically in the room, look strange? The two doors are 6' wide and the entire wood entry is approx. 10' wide....See MorePlease help me choose a rug and decide on new fireplace

Comments (6)Rugs on carpet never bothered me. However, I would make sure to get a low pile rug and/or hook weave. These are from West Elm: I normally don't like TVs over the fireplace but since your couch is so far back I think it will work well in this scenario. However, with the current couch placement, the living room entrance feels a bit crowded. To remedy this I would move the side table to the other end of the couch and leave that space empty. Hope this helps!...See MoreCelery. Visualization, Rendering images
