Cold and rainy here today. I feel like Winter is on it's way. ) : Stayed up again till the early morning hours and woke up in the afternoon. Have done nothing but read and sip coffee. On vacation for another 3 days. I'm actually looking forward to going back. It's a little boring here at home lol.

My daughter and her boyfriend are in Colorado now.

Sounds like you are enjoying your relaxing time off. I spent a wonderful afternoon shopping at the mall with my granddaughter who is going into 7th grade this year. She was quite pleased to find Converse sneakers, two cute tops, and a pullover. Lunch at Nordstrom's. This week turned out to be very grandchild focused as I spent time with the 4 who live close by. Leaving at 5:30 in the morning tomorrow to "watch" eldest grandson run in his cross country. The not fun part is that the meet is two hours away and the forecast is for rain; the fun part is the time spent with my daughter and grandson. My daughter and I will chat- grandson will probably be dead asleep.

My day started out well. Then we were called over to one of the rentals. They said the freezer side of the side by side frig wouldn't close all the way. Yeah....well there was a shelf jutting out hitting a BIG bag of frozen food. :0)

:0) just wow....how do they get dressed without me in the mornings...?

Why not just plant a white oak, q. alba? Why bicolor? Tuliptree is a rapid grower and fun to watch. I have to actually thin stands of them behind my house where they pop up all over the place but one of my favorite trees none the less. If you said you primarily wanted a tree for shade while you'll be living in that house, I'd say plant something like tuliptree. But since you've now come out and said you are looking to plant a legacy tree, that's more along the order of slower growing trees like beech, white oak, sugar maples et cetera. Prices sound reasonable if they are retail prices. I saw that a park about 45 mins from here planted an allee of American beeches with about 15' spacing and it was a really cool looking effect. It created a lot of shade and the trees didn't look that old. Some things you might be concerned about with beeches, * easily damaged bark/ easily invaded by insects * difficulty in transplanting * surface roots and suckers * spring raking * not much grows under them * their fruit can leave a cleanup job but then so can oak acorns.

I really need to wash the siding and windows! I was very depressed today with all of the Harvey news. We made some donations and cried some more. Just trying to do something else to redirect my thoughts. I did finish Stephen King's 'Full Dark, No Stars' a nice read of 4 novelettes. I have The Gunslinger on hold at the library and will try to pick it up tomorrow. I want to re-read the Dark Tower series in chronological order.

Both Marilyn and Raven have mail from me. I have been busy with their GFM pages. Boy, oh boy... so many thank you's to send.... There is no reason to quit contributing once the stated goal is reached. I had to put an amount in there... to get the ball rolling. I guestimated amounts to buy a mobility chair, and on Marilyns page, to replace the pickups. We want more than the total in there anyway... go fund me keeps their cut too. Other than that, I bought stuff for on the bottom of Charlottes chairs, to keep from getting my floor scratched up, and a couple of shoe shelves. Yes, Charlotte did move in here while I was gone. So far we get along famously. :) I also visited with a girlfriend and showed her my crazyguy pages pictures. Ling's English isn't to good, and she could not figure out how to navigate there. After four hours sleep Friday night, we got up at five, and we just now got home. In prelims, we swept the awards for best __________, everything except percussion, including winning the class. In finals, Reserve Grand Champions overall (second in a field of ten finalists, starting with 18). So worth a really long day. That's the hardest my son has ever hugged me. Glad I came out of "pit crew retirement" to see it firsthand. About to go to bed. Really super tired!!!!

I spent my day resting after yesterdays labor intensive gardening. I finally got a big project completed. I moved all of the pond/bog plants into a 'heeled in' location in anticipation of our pond rebuild. I am worn out from moving all of the plants and my work week starts tomorrow.

Nicole, my daughter is the one in Colorado, not me. She's in Aurora, on her way to California to live. She just told me she's not feeling good. Cold or something coming on, dark circles under her eyes. Poor kid.
