At what age does one become a ''senior''?
Comments (24)Booberry, Well...I confess to wearing them now. Since mine are in basic black, I don't feel like a little old lady. (Not because of those anyway!) I just figure I'm putting on my black socks! If I want to jazz up my footwear, I wear other things over them. I don't know why, but my legs feel immediately better when I'm wearing them, so they're the first thing I do when getting dressed. I woke up this morning with legs aching, so on they went. For me, it's the difference between being able to do something as simple as making a meal or going shopping. Without them, I have to quit too soon. I'd rather keep going!...See MoreSenior Citizens who are Bad Drivers
Comments (46)"All those posters, who are complaining about older drivers, are you willing to volunteer to drive a senior, to the grocery store, or their doctors' visits?" Cold as it sounds, it is not the responsibility of people who are complaining about unsafe drivers to drive the people they're complaining about, around. It would be nice, and it would be charitable, but it is not their responsibility, nor are they obligated to accept having unsafe drivers on the roads if they don't want to drive others around. However, there does need to be some problem solving going on so that these older people can get to appointments and get errands done. But it is NOT acceptable for an unsafe driver to be on the road because they need to go somewhere. My daughter had to face that reality when her license was taken away due to a diagnosis of epilepsy, and the same goes for any other unsafe driver, including older ones. From my observations, police are quicker to ticket young drivers who are speeding slightly, than they are to ticket older drivers who's driving habits are unsafe. Many older drivers here drive slowly enough to obstruct traffic and pull out right in front of oncoming cars only to drive below the speed limit. They are never ticketed until they cause an accident. The younger drivers are quicker to be ticketed. Actually, a few years ago a senior citizen put her car in reverse and bashed into my car at an intersection, and then she yelled at me for not getting out of her way! She also refused to give me her license info, and a police officer had to get "verbal" with her to get her to provide it....See MoreWhat is the age you start to get senior citizen discounts?
Comments (10)We just enrolled in AARP so I need to check out some of the advantages. We also have some AAA discounts that we don't always use. They(AAA) has a good discount for eyeglasses if you get them from one of the stores they recommend. LensCrafters is one.DH got 30% off there on his eyeglasses. I thought that was pretty good. We also have the Golden Buckeye Card. I have yet to use that and have had it for some time now. I always forget to ask. When I was 50 the last thing I wanted to think about was a senior discount.LOL Thanks for the link....See MoreIdiot things you have done that can't be called "senior moments"?
Comments (61)Had a minor hissy fit over a missing tug (connecting strap) on a breast collar. Had someone get me one off another one muttering under my breath how people should be more observant of keeping track of the tack. Then when I went to put on the bridle there was the tug, had somehow got caught up on it. So much for being observant. Better practice what I preach. We got a new solar powered light for our flag. DH said we had to send it back because it wasn't working. I laid it down upside down on a table to take a look and it lit up since the light was blocked. He'd tested it merely holding it upside down to block the light not thinking how light can come still get in from below. He's actually the mechanically gifted one. At least he is usually. I learned well from him. After one especially long, fatiguing day of frustration I had finished my last errand. I lost a half hour in a dark parking lot one night searching for my keys to the truck by phone flashlight after loading groceries. I emptied every bag, looked between and under the seats, checked the area around me, even looked under the truck. In frustration I decided to sit for a bit. There were my keys. I'd put them in the ignition so I wouldn't misplace them....See Moremarylmi
