Need some input...landscape contractor messed up

Had a landscape company out today and they took the liberty to alter what I wanted done. I have two arborvitaes that are about 12 feet apart, I asked them to extend the bed around them 6-8 inches and then combine the two into 1 large bed making sure to keep one edge parallel with my driveway. They decided to do this and make the other edge parallel with the property line which is not parallel to how the trees were planted and now one of the trees is no longer centered in the bed. Looking for some input if it's worth putting soil down and replanting a small amount of grass to reestablish the edge and center the closest arborvitae.

Comments (11)Here are 2 more pics, Darel, Maybe you can see what the other side looks like and if it can run that way. It is approx 2 inches higher on the garage than it is on the porch area. The contractor was asked what we was going to do and all I could get out of him after I said he was not putting gutters across the top of the steps, was " I have no idea" and " It can't be run it to the garage gutter" and " can I build your deck next?" I understand it is really his problem but since he can refuse to finish and already has his money, it really could be my problem. I could refuse to pay him for a small retaining wall he's half done. My husband thought the contractor could use his concrete saw and cut thru his work, put the gutter in under like it was supposed to be, and fill in the top with matching color mortared brick along the side. would that work? Comments (88)As an update to this the bathroom is finally coming together. I'll post pics here when bath is fully done. Lot of work doing all the tile but I took my time and it looks awesome. Far better than the job done by the builder in rest of the house and way better than the contractor I had hired. The shower pan build was a bit of a pain and I did the first layer twice (ie: ripped out first attempt and started over). Once you get the hang of it though it's not bad. Still, if doing it again I might think hard about a pre-formed tileable base despite the extra cost. The end-result though was great and it drains amazingly well as I made sure to slope it slightly over the minimum recommended. One advantage of doing it yourself on the floor was with the natural marble floor my wife could take her time figuring out which pieces to use where so that the overall pattern was optimal. Don't think you could do that with a pro without extra charges for sure. I found I really like the Ditra. Great product for tile and goes down easily. I used the recommended adhesive for it but think in the future I'll just use Custom's Uncoupling mat mortar for laying the Ditra....See MoreContractor Messed Up... how do we proceed?

Yes, because to fix it, he is now working twice for the same amount of money and you've gotta wonder how he's gonna make up for it. If your contract calls for BM paints/colors, then that is exactly what you should get. IMO, you should not have cheaper paints as the base coat. If he bid the job with the intent of using cheaper paint, knowing that something else was specified, that is his problem. You should get what you contracted for and paid for, period. Comments (130)I love the house color with the stone. I do agree that the shutters can go, maybe just “beef” up the trim a little so the windows look finished. The white trim isn’t awful but I would live in the house for a year and then decide..black trim could look nice with the other colors you have. Front door colors are a matter of taste. If you have a lot of green landscaping you may want to pull a shade of that to your door. If you have a particular color landscape, flowering shrubs and plants in a color you love,, you could pick a shade of the flowering plants to put on your door. I built my house a year ago. I have HardyPlank siding in Deep ocean blue, black trim , black standing seam metal roof and a chartreuse front door. I like to use plants (in planters and pots) around the front of the house that pick up the front door color. I get a lot of compliments on the color combinations and especially on the front door color. You are still looking at a building lot. Things will look much different when you have some landscaping, even if it’s just some bushes the builder puts in. Look at landscaping designs on Houzz, in magazines and Pinterest . You will see things much differently after living in you house for awhile. Take your time making decisions, your perfect home will come in time....See More

Emmarene, I definitely notice it and figured some may not.
Gardengal, i've spoken to my local nursery and they assure me 12 feet should be plenty of room for at least 1.

Here are some better angles. Still not sure what I can put in between these two as a similar sized arborvitae will run over my budget.
