What wall color will add warmth in a gray kitchen?

For a renovation in a house we've just moved into, we're putting in gray cabinets, which I love. The countertop has a white ground, with light gray and charcoal markings. The flooring is a very pale gray tile look.

The north-facing windows won't give us bright sunlight at any time, so I want the walls/backsplash to be a white or very light. What undertone in light-toned paint will give me a warmer feel in the kitchen? Thanks in advance.

if you want to stay calm and neutral, and more to blend: soft white..don't steer too blue since you don't want it..or too yellow so you won't get cream

if you're into being daring, and contrasting ..I might try blush pink:)(I'd say fuschia but you asked for a lighter color)) and clear, lemon-y yellow..it's not light, yet yellow can look like it has light from within..depends on your space of course, and the light it gets.. so always try..

try whites too..don't take anything for granted until you see it on your walls in your space, in different times of a day..sample, then look at it morning, noon, afternoon, and in artificial lighting..you want to like it all the time, or at least most of the time

it's not necessarily that light color will make room lighter, automatically..and it's hard to predict until you try. it's amazing how every space is unique and different, and how differently a paint color will behave in it

I my own self would not try to blend a warm wall color with cool cabinet color. I would use a coolish white, and use yellow, green, teal or red for accessories, towels, wall decor, Etc. Whatever you choose, have fun.

Window treatments would help - choose your favorite color, or a color from one of the pieces of artwork. I think both pieces of art have a maroon/cranberry mat - that may be a good color for window treatments. You may want to have a decorator assist - JC Penney is a good place for reasonably priced window treatments & some stores have decorators to assist. I see many places for accents/artwork - the wall next to the fireplace, the walls on either side of the windows on the TV wall, and the large wall where your trunk is. Perhaps a larger piece of furniture in place of the trunk - a side table where you can display items, even the trunk! Perhaps an area rug to anchor your furniture too.

How long have you been in the home? Generally, as with other major life events, you shouldn't make any major decisions for a year. Live in it, learn how it functions for you, see how the light changes things over the passing of seasons. You may learn to appreciate many of the things you now think need changing, ant others you haven't thought to change will demand it. Lack of color will probably be one of the major issues for you, but that is easily changed with the addition of pillows, throws, a new rug or drapes. This will also give you time to build a few ideabooks here on HOUZZ to help you get the exact direction you want to take sorted out.

Your home is lovely and I'm not sure we understand what exactly you are trying to do. As for warming it up, choose accessories in warmer tones. Maybe a couple of bright easy chairs in coral? What colors do you like and make you happy? Those are the colors you should bring in. I wouldn't paint the dining room trim dark. Since it's an open plan keep the trim the same throughout. You can add drama with a bold print between the two windows. Everything seems so tasteful now you don't need to start over, just add in some color. Don't give up on the forum. the number one thing, move that sofa out of the doorway. pull the rug and sofa floating in the room. center the rug and put the front legs of the sofa on it. the chair looks like it was part of a sectional? is that true, if so I would take it out and bring in the chair you have in the dining area and that love seat. put the love seat to the window side and the chair to the other side angles. you have a great touch of blue in the island, bring that into the other room in touches, patterned curtains, pillows, and in art work. splash it around and let it be the first bit of color it will lead you into others.

ah, and I agree with Sylvia..feeling of warmth can definitely come from accessories..wood would look really cool..a bowl, a cutting board..pottery cand eramics tend to bring warmth..tea towels..colored mugs..a plant..

so you can pull the color from your granite or tile..the lightest one..again, sample first..and then add texture and color with your accessories

Yes, I love accessories with bright, clear colors. I have some cobalt blue things, and a friend gave me a lemon-colored apron and towel. I also like to have Granny Smith apples in view.

put those apples in something a bit rough, maybe made of wood, maybe handmade dish, maybe a basket-and you're golden. Seriously.

SW Creamy or BM Capitol White. Both are warm, creamy whites. I have SW Creamy in a north facing room.
