I need help with paint colors in my family room.
Comments (0)I have a family room with old furniture and white walls. It doesn't get much direct sunlight as I have a covered deck behind the room. I have painted the hallway a neutral beige color. I would like to flow nicely into the living room but want to make sure it's not too dark and looks good with light oak trim. Any suggestions for color would be greatly appreciated. I've considered a steel blue, very light green, and cream/beige. The carpet is also beige. Thanks! I posted a picture in the gallery....See MoreI need to add color to my boring living room. New build
Comments (28)A statement art piece above the fireplace would be a natural focal point. Try picking at least one color from the artwork and repeating it in details around the room. Also resist the urge to choose an art piece that lines up with mantel edges. Use a piece that is narrower or wider to ensure that the artwork is a feature and not just an extension of the fireplace....See MoreWhat paint color to add warmth to a new construction home?
Comments (3)Your home is lovely and I'm not sure we understand what exactly you are trying to do. As for warming it up, choose accessories in warmer tones. Maybe a couple of bright easy chairs in coral? What colors do you like and make you happy? Those are the colors you should bring in. I wouldn't paint the dining room trim dark. Since it's an open plan keep the trim the same throughout. You can add drama with a bold print between the two windows. Everything seems so tasteful now you don't need to start over, just add in some color. Don't give up on the forum. Comments (9)OK, try this: 1. Pick a picture - any picture. You will be making changes on it if you accidently save it, so pick one you don't care about, or make a duplicate. 2. Right-click on the file and from the drop-down menu, select "open with" 3. Select Paint 4. Click on the big A on the toolbar, and select a contrasting color and font size 5. Click on some part of your picture. You will see a dotted rectangle with an insert bar at the left end. 6. Type something - what you type should appear on your picture. 7. Let us know how it worked! When you do it for real, first make a copy of the picture you want to work on, in case you screw up - you probably will!...See MoreIdaClaire
