I've come to prefer the flow of rooms painted the same color throughout my home, but I really like the palette you've chosen. I think Tidewater, while a slight departure, is still a complement to your scheme. Very pretty.

@funcolors wow, you might be the color angel I’ve been needing as I drive myself crazy with whites! We’re repainting all interior doors and trim (prior owners left 3 trim colors, some doors that don’t match frames, etc), so we’re looking for a nice clean white. we have BM mascarpone in our family room and love it, so had planned to expand that through the open concept downstairs as well as stairway. will simply white read too stark against mascarpone? In some areas it seems to a bit, and in bright areas it doesn’t at all. We want to be consistent through the house (and my husband doesn’t like idea of mascarpone on the doors and trim and wants a truer white) , and have ultra pure white in 2 kid rooms (their choice!), and simply white is a huge improvement over the trim and doors there now, which look almost brown in comparison. Basically my Q is: Will we regret Simply White as too stark against creamy, dreamy mascarpone? Or worse, will they clash or look like we failed in an attempt to match? thanks for any help! :)

We have renovated 2 homes in the last 20 years. I used Behr on the first because it was less expensive, we weren’t planning on staying and was easier to get from the big box store in the evenings (paint store had more limited hours). Never again! We painted ourselves and not only did we use more paint to adequately cover, it drips more. The other major issue was that when we went to sell 3-4 years later and had to touch up, the color had changed several shades—no way to touch up and feather it out to blend. I had to repaint 2 rooms it was so bad! On our second house, I have used nothing but Benjamin Moore and love it—goes on easier without dripping and covers much better and you save a lot more time in the long run with better results. We have always used eggshell for walls (cleans up great for years) and semi gloss for trim. Also, when I have gotten bids from professional painters, most of them will only use BM or SW for interior work (I am in the Midwest). It is more expensive in the short term, but well worth every penny!!!!

Here is the DNA on SW Sea Salt. It has an LRV (light reflective value, or how much light does it absorb or reflect.) of 65 so 100 is most reflective. 65 makes it not very reflective, kind of mid range. It has a Hue Family (what is the main color that is most likely to show thru) of Green/Yellow (cool segment) and it has a moderate Chroma which means it has enough black to "gray it down" and helps define how much "color" is in the paint. This one has a fair amount of Chroma, so it is pretty "colorful". So, if you want a more "quiet" backdrop, look to the "off-whites". Some to get samples of and compare are SW Chantilly Lace (pretty white); SW Extra White (not quite as bright but still white); SW Cotton Balls, SW Pure White is nice too. Then you can get some of the more colorful choices like SW Sea Salt, SW Agreeable Gray, SW Accessible Beige, SW Alabaster (more yellow Hue Family) or SW Worldly Gray which has much more color but fairly neutral tending to gray tones. Worldly Gray has an LRV of 57, so it is mid-range light reflective. Not as reflective as SW Sea Salt for example at 65. LRV is measured from 0-100. The closer to 100 the more reflective; the closer to 0 the less reflective and more absorbing of light.
