It seems they're going to have to come back out again and fix their fix; how did they repair the seam to cause the counter not to be level anymore?

The pieces of quartz were warped so they had to shim the cabinets to make the two pieces match up behind the sink. They also put a screw through one of our cabinets to raise the corner of the quartz and also uncaulked my sink and shimmed the corner of that. Lastly, they shimmed under my toekick so now it looks really strange.

I used a laser level to see the variance.

I guess they wouldn't just replace the warped Quartz instead of all the other stuff? I wouldn't like the screw holding up the counter at all. Also in the photo of the shim under the sink there looks like a crack or cut in the cabinet? Did the counter guys do that?

The counter company keeps trying to fix it. My husband and I have spoken to them several times and they seem very hesitant to replace both warped pieces. I don't like the screw holding up the counter either. I can picture myself leaning on the counter one day and it comes down. The "crack" is actually a line that the cabinet installer drew so he could cut out the panel for the farm sink; we just didn't clean it off yet.

You need to look up the acceptable warpage level allowed by your quartz manufacturer. I can promise you it isn't anywhere near 3/8". If it exceeds the manufacturers specifications, you have a warranty claim. The screw holding up the quartz is pure hillbilly.

It says "less than 3 mm (0.1 in.) over 1524 mm (60 in.)"

Joseph, I've seen your work on this forum and know that you repair countertops for a living. Is there anything that can be done to fix the counters or is replacing it the only way? I just want to know what my options are before I talk to them again...:/

I have nothing to add about the screw and other stuff with the quartz, but the shim under the toekick can easily be cut flush with a Sonicrafter saw.

I feel like the company is just avoiding us now. My husband got off the phone with an associate this morning at 9:30 after speaking to someone else the previous day. When he asked to speak to the manager this morning, he was told that the manager was in a meeting so he relayed the story to the associate. He called them back around 1:00 and left another message. Still no response. Ugh.

That's what I think too, Dan1888, but my husband wants to resolve things amicably because he says that even if we decide to go with another company after all this, they would still have to come in and remove their quartz and he's afraid that they will purposely scratch up our cabinets.

Tell them to bring cash, you'll have their tops waiting in the garage. If it comes to that.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their advice. I feel better knowing that I have options to resolve this issue either with the company or without them. :)
