SW Nomadic Desert - dated or just a neutral?

I've inquired at our local SW store and BM store, and both say that beiges are still selling very well here along with the grays and greiges.

In fact, an employee at SW store says that Kilim Beige is still the number one paint color in our local store.

Anyway, I'm going to be putting my house up for sale and am trying to decide between Kilim Beige and Nomadic Desert (which is the color "below" Kilim Beige.) Fact is, the walls are already painted Nomadic Desert, so it would be much easier to repaint it that color, but if Kilim Beige helps to sell the house more quickly, I'll paint that color.

We're closing on our new house on August 23rd, so this one needs to get on the market. (I know - wrong time to sell!)

Are you using an agent to sell ? They are usually good sources for info about colors that are popular in your area and price range. I don't think there is enough difference between Kilim and Nomadic to change the color. If you want to repaint and not just touch up, SW accessible beige is a nice fresh neutral.

Thanks! We will be speaking to two agents at the end of the week. Meanwhile, I spoke to another employee at SW, and while she said that Kilim is very popular as an individual color, "grays and greiges" are definitely outselling beiges overall. So, I've decided to go with a light gray. That was the answer I was expecting, so I'm glad I asked for a clarification. The guy at the Behr counter at Home Depot said the same thing, and at the selling price we'll be asking, I think my house will attract a younger "Pottery Barn inspired" crowd. :)

SW Blonde might work. I've seen photos of it with red and it looks great. Very popular decorator color. Two other possibilities that are similar to ND, but golder, are SW Whole Wheat and Tobacco Road. Tobacco Road was originally a Duron color. Duron was bought by SW. You have to ask specifically for Tobacco Road. I've read that SW has the formula for it. I've also seen the exact formula posted online. If you started a post about it, I'm sure someone here would have the info. I think Tobacco Road is a lot like Whole Wheat, but has just a tad more gold in it. Do you have upholstery you need to worry about, or are you starting from scratch and getting new? Nomadic Desert is one of those warm neutrals that will go with any color, and IMO, it doesn't make any difference if it's warm or cool. My sister recently painted her family room a color close to the ND, and did an accent wall in a rust color~ it looks great, and very cozy.

Annie-I have not looked at tower tan, at least I don't remember looking at it. When you say "similar body" are you saying something as strong and lively? I will say my Quietude is very blue and brighter than the chip. I love it, but the chip looks more muted than my walls. Tibbrex- I really am not crazy about my trim color, but it's what a "paint expert" picked when I built my home 3 years ago. It's a pretty cream in some light and a drab cream in other light. It's more of a chalk color. It shouldn't be this hard for me to pick a color for a laundry room! Lol

Just to follow up, Kilim Beige on the walls with Alabaster trim/ceiling looks great in the new house! I love the colors with the dark walnut doors/cabinets and bronze fixtures. They just hooked up electrical so it looks nice with artificial light as well. Sometimes I regret not looking into SW Pavilion Beige, but I don't know why I do that to myself...what's done is done and I should be so relieved that Kilim Beige looks great! When they first painted I thought I saw peach undertones and I panicked. But I did not see that again. It is definitely warm, but I can't detect any real undertones. Flooring isn't in yet, so I'm curious to see how the color will change. patty_cakes, you wrote in a previous post above: "As for the color/colors, just a very pleasant, warm tan that has a beautiful candlelight hue in the evening. Good luck. ;o)" I thought of your comment when we saw the house for the first time last night with artificial light...kilim beige does have that beautiful candlelight hue in the evening! I don't know if these factors are worth repainting a house over, talk to the realtors.

I don't think most people would be able to walk into a room and tell the difference between Kilim Beige and Nomadic Desert.

If you are repainting anyway, it is just as easy to change to a greige. We have used BM Edgecomb Gray in a few rentals that we have. it really is a nice and seems to work in different lighting situations.
