SW Antique White trim with Creamy ceilings?
Comments (6)Thanks so much for all the great advice. I guess I'm looking for affirmation that the Antique Trim isn't too dark to use as a trim color just as much as I'd like to be sure that the Antique Trim will work with the Creamy ceilings. I just can't ask my dh to paint the ceilings again! They were BM Linen White before, but I thought it was a bit yellow. Since we had some roller marks and I wanted to change the wall color anyway, we repainted the ceilings Creamy. Susie - I definitely am with you as far as the sample boards. I had dh cut a large piece of drywall into 4 large sample boards to test out the wall colors - I've been placing them throughout the house all week! Now I need to do the same for the trim, I suppose. Dogridge - thanks for posting your experience with the Antique White as a trim color. My house is a larger open floor plan, but it's a one story that doesn't get a lot of natural light in many of the rooms, so I should probably buy some sample trim to test out the darker trim color throughout the house. My sister has a very off-white trim in her house, and it's gorgeous, but it's also a new house with extremely high ceilings - not a 1963 ranch!...See MoreTrim and Ceiling Paint -SW Pure White trim - What white for ceilings?
Comments (27)We closed on our house today wahoooo! I only got to spend about an hour there but looked quickly at the samples for trim/doors/ceilings. I think I've narrowed it down to three possibilities: BM Simply White, SW Extra White and BM Super White. I thought about BM Chantilly Lace too. Basically, looking at the finishings, my first gut is that BM Simply White looks the best. I just worry it may look too yellow once up on everything. At least that's what I read (and you know how reliable the internet is). First question: has anyone had experience with BM Simply White? Does it just read warm or do you see the yellow in it when it's one trim/doors/ceilings? So I may go that direction, or wonder if I should go with a cleaner white but something close. Something still a little warm... As for the runners up, from what I can see SW Extra White and BM Super White are very similar but Extra White maybe looks a little warmer? Maybe because it has more chroma? Is this understanding accurate, Lori A. Sawaya?? And it seems to me that the order of warmth would go SW Extra White, BM Super White, BM Chantilly Lace... is that a correct reading? Again for context - East/West exposures with a lot of shade. Wall colors aren't chosen but would likely be something along the lines of BM Edgecomb Gray, BM Ballet White, BM Chelsea Gray, BM Natural Cream. Daughter's room will be BM Opal. I'll try to take some pics of the finishings tomorrow but would love any thoughts on this. Thanks!...See MoreSW Trim & Ceiling Color ASAP
Comments (16)Any opinions on white ceilings vs same wall colored ceilings? We also have 10’ ceilings everywhere. Functionally: If you use top grade (not "ceiling" paint) white paint on the ceilings, you can change wall color a couple times within 5-8 years without having to paint the ceiling too. If you do walls/ceiling same color, you paint the ceiling every time you change wall color. Last, white reflects more light. Aesthetically: There isn't a right answer. It comes down to personal preference. I myself prefer a white ceiling above my head. YMMV....See MoreCeiling and trim color help please
Comments (7)No, i think it is doable. Can you decide after the walls are painted? Once it is painted, you could try swatches of natural linen and icicle and nice white... and colors adjacent on the same strips....See Morebird_lover6
