SW Nomadic Desert and what?

I just painted my North facing living room SW Nomadic Desert and I love it. I need to paint my dining room which is partially visible from the living room. The dining room faces the South and with lots of natural light coming in. I feel like Nomadic Desert will wash out in the dinning room. I sampled Latte but need more gold. Anyone have any suggestions??

I have SWND in my kitchen/breakfast room which faces mostly north and I love it too. My dining room faces south. I have wainscoting painted bright white in both rooms. I painted my dining room a dark gray and I really like it. Navy would have worked well too but I am going to use that in my family room with other blues and grays. ND will get washed out in the south facing room so I would go darker. A nice darker green would also be nice.

Thank you Caminnc for your comments and the reassurrance of using ND in a North facing room. Your rooms sound great, I love wainscoting but have never had it. Here is my situation with the dining room, I have a lot of red going on in there, ie red dining room chairs. While the grays would work, green would not for the fear of looking like Christmas all year long----lol. I also have a sage color in our office which is just off the dining room. Yes, I have boxed myself in somewhat. I pondered on SW Hopsack or Bagette (sp) ------any thoughts. Thanks again

I haven't used those colors, but I will give you this tip. Don't let the sales people talk you into Emerald. Don't get me wrong its nice paint, but I am using both ProMar200 ZeroVOC (which I get for $30 LESS a gallon than heavily discounted Emerald) and in my opinion its just as good a paint. DO spend the money on the ProClassic. Trim paint. That stuff is amazing.

I've read that beiges will have an undertone of either pink/peach or green. Macadamia probably tends more toward green, but not as much as some beiges. In the SW fan deck, for the most part the shades on strip numbers lower than the Whole Wheat one tend toward pink/peach (with the Nomadic Desert being the least of those-ND looks like caramel to me). Those strip numbers higher than and including Whole Wheat tend to have the green undertones. Peachy beiges are tricky. I used Sand Dollar in my foyer which got very little natural light and it looked like a nice, neutral beige. I decided to use it in my kitchen which has large west facing windows, and it looked like refried beans - no lie. One thought with a basement space is to bring the "outdoors" in by using a creamy yellow (sun), blue (sky) or green (foliage). But the shades of each have to be right. Muted shades sometimes just look gray in a darker space. Do you have color corrected light bulbs? That will make a difference as well. Use them now while you are testing out paint samples.

Just to follow up, Kilim Beige on the walls with Alabaster trim/ceiling looks great in the new house! I love the colors with the dark walnut doors/cabinets and bronze fixtures. They just hooked up electrical so it looks nice with artificial light as well. Sometimes I regret not looking into SW Pavilion Beige, but I don't know why I do that to myself...what's done is done and I should be so relieved that Kilim Beige looks great! When they first painted I thought I saw peach undertones and I panicked. But I did not see that again. It is definitely warm, but I can't detect any real undertones. Flooring isn't in yet, so I'm curious to see how the color will change. patty_cakes, you wrote in a previous post above: "As for the color/colors, just a very pleasant, warm tan that has a beautiful candlelight hue in the evening. Good luck. ;o)" I thought of your comment when we saw the house for the first time last night with artificial light...kilim beige does have that beautiful candlelight hue in the evening! Just found this thread, thank you for the pics Caminnc and bonniee! I am thinking of using this color for the main areas of my home which is everything but the guest bedrooms! The windows mainly face northeast and northwest, some evening light from the west in the foyer. Gagesgranny did you use this color? Did you like it? My master bedding is blue and beigy tan also.

SW Blonde might work. I've seen photos of it with red and it looks great. Very popular decorator color.

Two other possibilities that are similar to ND, but golder, are SW Whole Wheat and Tobacco Road.

Tobacco Road was originally a Duron color. Duron was bought by SW. You have to ask specifically for Tobacco Road. I've read that SW has the formula for it. I've also seen the exact formula posted online. If you started a post about it, I'm sure someone here would have the info.

I think Tobacco Road is a lot like Whole Wheat, but has just a tad more gold in it.

We have SW ND in our kitchen and family room. Both face west. Facing East we used SW Softer Tan in the foyer and hall. I tried Tobacco Road but it had too much gold in it and I would not like it w/ the SWND.

Hopsack looks really nice and I am considering using it for my office. Maybe that would work for you too.
