Please Help Me To ID My Daughter's Plant
Comments (3)otherwise know as the bane of my existence in my large garden.... its a weed... get rid of it ... perhaps there are varieties with worthwhile flowers... but this one isnt.. IMHO ... a good layer of mulch.. after removal will help ... ken Here is a link that might be useful: link says: The Pennsylvania Smartweed is an invasive weed. This noxious weed will move in and begin to take over an area. It affects crops such as corn, soybean, tobacco, and vegetables. It takes root easily in row crops and becomes harder to control as it matures....See MoreOT- gifts for daughter and ex daughter in law
Comments (9)I gave these to my daughter in law today, and she almost cried, she loved them so much :) It's just photo quality paper, some free brushes d/l'd from the internet, some Easter grass or basket filler, some fine glitter glue, and I cut out the outline of them after the glue dried. I did add some jewels later, and a battery operated votive I stuck inside the lid with rolled up tape.I sort of curled the photos to make them the shape of the jar,the filler holds them up. I can't wait to find out how my daughter likes hers:)...See MorePlease help me create a 'princess' bedroom for my daughter - PICS
Comments (8)Bella - your daughter's room is so pretty! Does she like having a princess room? I would love to replace the ceiling fan in my DD's room with a chandy, but we do use the fan during the hot summer nights. Maybe I could find a pretty antique looking desk fan instead. Mitch - I have no idea who to call for an estimate. We have a finish carpenter that we're going to use for trim and he comes with great references, but I'm not sure if finish carpenters actually build these types of cabinets/shelving. I'm uncomfortable just calling someone blind, since I had an unpleasant experience having a cabinet made (doors aren't flush, don't close properly, etc.) I was hoping it wouldn't cost more than $1500 or so, since they'd stay with the house and we've invested too much money already on a house that we intend to resell w/in 5 or 6 years! I guess I could recoup some $$ by selling her antique furniture and it would save so much space though. I really want to move her play kitchen and store out of my living room and into her own room! If anyone has any references in the SoCal area, I'd appreciate the info!...See MoreDaughter needs help with picking sofas for apartment
Comments (28)Sofas can be larger in a small room. But what I found is the arms are what cause an overscale. This was the first thing I looked at, those arms are going to take up more room than expected, losing close to 6" on each side. The more detail there is will also cause a sofa to appear larger than what is usable sitting space. The idea of two sofas in a room is great. Would love to do this if my room would work. Agree with Julie, she might want to wait for a move. So many layouts could change. Perhaps you could suggest using masking tape to layout the size of sofas. It will at least give an idea as to how much room they take up. Or photoshop as one suggested. Also, I see the EC as a great storage for office or bedroom. Add shelves or a pole for clothes. Know they are big, but like that one. I suspect she is going to make up her own mind and credit to you for not intruding. Wouldn't surprise me if she just went and bought one when you weren't looking. Given the style she is interested in, she must have a vision of what her room and style is. The ornate sofa says something about her interest beyond what she currently has. Or perhaps she has a friend who redid a room and wants the same. She might have fun at Houzz and you may see what it is she likes. Plus make you want to do something you had no plans for. I can get into areas not thought of before looking at all the designs. It is a great site.
