Comments (22)Several months ago I was at my sons home and helped fold a load of towels, they smelled strongly of detergent and were stiff. It was Obvious they had been overdosed with detergent. when I explained to daughter in law she let me take the towels home to * work on lol. First load I ran thru a hot wash with nothing added, there was a ton of suds I couldn't believe probably 3 inches...it took the wash and 3 rinses to get clear water. The second load I added stpp to the hot wash, again tons of suds, but 1st rinse was clear.I almost always have better rinsing if I use stpp in the wash cycle. Stpp does more than soften water it binds up all the mineral deposits, soap, detergent ect.. and keeps it from redepositing on clothing. You do use less detergent when using stpp as it makes the detergent work harder. Some people that have suds issues when using stpp is probably because they are using the same amount of detergent as they did without stpp. Its really trial and error when you first start using the stpp.I've found the best method is premixing, I think it was sudsmaster over at AW site that recommends 1 part stpp to 2 parts detergent by weight..so I add 2 pounds detergent to 1 pound stpp, stir it up or shake it up. This formula tends to cause less detergent overdosing, however you can't premixwith lliquid detergent, so you do have to add both separately being careful to use less detergent than you would without stpp, i'd start with 1/2 the usual amount of detergent. About towels and stpp, lol..be sure to use less detergent with the stpp and you should have no rinsing issues and softer towels.I should tell you since stpp strips detergent residue out of clothing when you first use it, even using less detergent you may have more suds than you like if the clothing has built up detergent. Check out amazon they have a 2 pound bag of stpp with free shipping for under 13 dollars....See MoreArm & Hammer
Comments (42)Thanks for bumping this up, Pat. Enjoyed reading through it. I just finished up a small bottle of A&H Sensitive Skin plus Fresh Scent and have bought it a few times the last few years. Love the scent (which I think is the same as they used in their old “green/earth-friendly” formula called Essentials and I used to buy ~12 years ago), rinses well for me, and because it does not have enzymes I use it on puffy down layers and wool.......See MoreArm & Hammer vs All
Comments (27)Random comments: I see Tide With Bleach powder at 2 of my local Meijer stores (Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor, Michigan) so I'm assuming they have it on their national website (Meijer.com). I also see it on Walmart's website. Walmart has free shipping on orders over $50, I think. If rinsed properly, there is absolutely no detergent scent left behind. Mama, the liquid version sure is not the same. No oxygen bleach -- don't know how they can get away with that. Only facial moisturizer/sunscreen I can use: "Eucerin Daily Protection SPF 30." Stays white a while because of the mineral (vs chemical) suncreens but quickly absorbs. Nicely moisturizing also for winter. On my arms and legs I use "California Kids Supersensitive SPF 30," and like miami above it is very thick, white, and doesn't soak in. The neighbors just stare when I also put this on my face, but who cares? Yes, vetwife, Eucerin products are highly recommended by derms and they are very nice. Just want you to know that I was in the SHADE outside when my "rash" started the prickly burning. UV rays are everywhere, even near inside windows. Something about climate chanage and the ozone layer -- I can't keep up. cilantro, I've cut out Zrytec/Claritin and Aleve/aspirin, but cannot cut out my ace inhibitor with diuretic, or anti-depressant. The rash is lessened so, again, thank you for that link. Having a biopsy next week, so I'll be on Tylenol anyway, and that's supposed to be okay. Thanks to this Forum, we all get to help each other in some way....See MoreIf you like Arm and Hammer liquid....
