Exterior paint colors that are complimentary with an orange brown roof
Hi, We just purchased a little cottage and it has my least favorite shingle roof color bit it's relatively new so replacing it isn't an option now. The color of the roof is sort of orange, brown, rust? I would like to find an exterior color that is complimentary to it. Almost every home I see with this color roof has done a yellow or brownish mustard. I would love something different with a pop of white as the accents or what about white with a color accent? Any suggestions would be helpful. Whites, blues, greens, grays??? I just don't know. What can I use to stay away from the yellow, orange family?

Comments (13)Where are you located? Is your roof a redish/orange tone? You need to work with that and then improve your landscaping too. I think a Sage green color would be very nice. Maybe a light cream if you want a more yellow look. But not a strong yellow. Yellows get strong very fast. Comments (5)What do you mean by “pop?” I like the existing color of the house, but would definitely lose the turquoise accents. That isn’t the kind of “pop” that I would like. I suggest that the “pop” come in the form of landscaping design. Colorful foliage, planter boxes (perhaps in turquoise), beautiful trees, etc. Bring in a landscape designer. Comments (14)Why oh why do people insist on taking pictures with the house shaded, then request opinions on color? Take the picture when the sun is at your back and the front of the house is in natural light. And yes to a nice, soft sage green.
