Two salads, by request

These were tastings at our farmers market yesterday. First is the Red Cabbage Slaw. It comes from a restaurant who doesn't share recipes, but gave us the list of ingredients.
The second is a Quinoa Salad with lots of veggies in it. They both are good for vegetarians.

Comments (3)Not adapted to conditions on this side of the mountains. There was a garden form with yellow flowers being sold locally awhile back but it seems to have come and gone quickly. Possibly it was more tractable than usual. New introductions coming from one or a few suppliers may be dropped quickly for reasons other than the plant being hard to grow - I found the new cherry red tulip with the blue interior markings to be quite good yet despite special promotion with posters etc. by the introducer and supplier it too seems to have disappeared after only a few years. I've forgotten the cultivar name and when I have asked about it at local outlets (still buying from the same company) have gotten blank looks. It had a forgettable cultivar name like 'Spring Beauty' but you'd think considering the promotion it got and its unusual characteristics that it would have made more of an impression on someone working with it only a year or to beforehand....See MoreTwo Tofu salads

Comments (0)I can't remember who wanted these, but here are the two KWC Systema faucets with pre-rinse sprayers installed in my kitchen: The old one looks great at my girlfriends house...but her sink isn't at a corner window like mine. I am going to use this faucet in the other kitchen which won't have a window over the sink: And the other Systema pro faucet (six inches shorter): The bigger one was so big that the spring faucet could hit the windows. It's HEAVY (both are very very heavy and well built faucets) but I was worried about losing a window if the little one ever got a hold of it. In addition, it was just visually wrong between the windows. And then last...it interfeared with my lighting (not to be installed until after the inspections are over). The six inch shorter faucet fits under the chandelier...the taller one wouldn't have. But I'd recommend either of them. I pulled out the pre-rinse faucet a few times and sprayed away and it works hitch free, easy to pull, not too much weight.
