Help choosing exterior paint palette/ What to do with odd detail

Hi, We are planning to paint our exterior and I am leaning towards white with a yellow door and either dark gray or navy blue trim. The rectangular area between the two windows really bothers me, and we've talked to general contractors about covering it up to match the existing t-siding but with the cost to do that, it seems we should either


a) replace the exterior siding altogether with something like Hardiebacker or


b) leave as is. I'm wondering if I should paint that part white, or in the same color as the trim? Any thoughts, fellow Houzzers? We're also just thinking painting would be easiest and most cost-efficient at this point.
