Your realtor is giving bad advice, leave the brick alone, you will disappoint the diehard MCM buyers. Your eye goes to light colours first, so leave all the trim especially at the roofline light, no black. If it was my home, I would consider painting the walls a warm taupe/grey, it has to work with the roof color, the brick and the mortar. Choose your colors carefully, you should hire a color expert to be on site. Or don’t paint at all, leave it to the buyer. Maybe the wood at the entry can be restored. Please don’t change anything that is authentic. This example photo shows how the wall and carport support was painted a color to work well with the brick.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Off-white with a bright colored, mid century door was the direction I was leaning, so it sounds like I’m on the right track, @emmarene9, I think the small plants are boxwoods, but I am going to pull those out along with the stones and redo that bed with some more mid-century appropriate, Texas native landscaping - maybe grasses or succulents. And here’s a close up of the iron scrolling that you asked for (dirty and coated in that ugly green paint, but in good shape otherwise).

Hello Houzz folks - wanted to give a quick update on our project and maybe ask for a little more advice. We put off our roofing project (yay 2020!) but are about to pick it up again. In the meantime we have made some other changes inspired in part by this very thread, so it only feels right to share! First, we painted our garage door Urbane Bronze as suggested by one of the commenters here. We LOVE what it does to ground the front facade of our ranch and it really brings up the darker brown and black in our brick. Please pardon the crappy photos (and the overgrowth!) in this picture, which was taken as the first coat of paint was drying. Looked even better after the second coat! (No idea why this picture keeps coming in sideways!) Next we tackled the front door situation. I'd always wanted a vintage solid wood MCM door to match the age of the house. A friend found a PERFECT fit at a local Restore several years ago, and I finally got around to rehabbing it. After many hours sending, several tubes of wood filler, new glass and some paint, we had a vintage deep blue 3 lite door with black hardware. I'll update with a picture of our finished product later, but the color we used was Salty Dog by Sherwin Williams, which looks absolutely beautiful against the brick and the bronze storm door. I’ll start, I guess. Have you explored the use of Romabio, a paint specially made for brick? You could lighten your overall color that way. I wouldn’t do anything specific to grout lines - what a PITA that would be. Your brick looks like it is in great shape. A popular choice on these boards is a dull green with brick. Here’s a picture I saved. Those shutters look like cheapy vinyl things. Take them down and toss. I agree that the porch posts need attention. Your sample of them painted a light color calls attention to the fact that they are too skinny by far. A substantial brick home like yours needs beefy posts. And lastly, new landscaping would help a lot. Those small trees on the left side were a good idea, but they should be pulled away from the house by 8’ or so. Actually, I think the one by the steps is completely misplaced while the one on the far left is critically important to balance your house. I know they’re expensive, but a fat tall blue spruce off the left corner, pulled toward the street about 10’ or so, would look awesome. I see evergreens around your house already and a spruce would fit in just fine.
