MIA- and sometimes they come back...
Comments (10)Ang, thanks for your kind words. I have retired from active flying these days, but I have been thinking of opening a flying school so that damsels in distress in the future will not be in distress. And I still listen to Fraulein once in awhile to remind me of my time in the service when I flew high at times without needing a cape. Elvis also sends his love......See MoreSmall ornamental tree bed in lawn - suggestions?
Comments (10)Thank you tussy mussy for the reference. As I have none of the problems referred to in the leaf drop comments, I think it must be a cultural problem. My soil is about 6.5 PH and my tree is in the lawn next to my patio. Blooming starts about memorial day the end of May and continues non stop until the fall leaf drop, which is my ONLY leaf drop. My tree is not too large but I do prune it back fairly hard every year because my electric service to the house is directly over the tree. Originally I had another Chitalpa planted in in the garden but I removed it because it shaded an area needing more sun. My current tree is started from a cutting of that tree. Al...See Morestill waiting on my tree to get here i hate waiting
Comments (21)Years ago I ordered a lime tree from the same company. It takes them forever to ship out. I received the tree after about a month of waiting. Calling and giving bad reviews didnt help. When the tree arrived it was exactly what i expected for the price: a small rooted cutting. It was a great tree to practice citrus culture on because it was so inexpensive...I eventually killed it and learned from the growing experience. My current citrus are from Four Winds....See MoreA mystery palm that hates hail!!
Comments (2)I'm trying to recall if I'd moved my big palms outdoors yet, when I got the hail, but I think so and they suffered little damage. It seems the fan types of plams are most lilely to suffer the worst hail damage , since those solid leaves don't "give" perhaps when the hail strikes them , but the more pinnate palms seem to give a bit when the hail strikes the leaflets perhaps? Just a guess, but it's also worse with more fragile fan types like mine with it's very fragile and also very thin fronds. I can just bump one when walking past and tear it easily. A bit like thin paper and not nearly as tough as some fo the larger fan palms like the Washingtonias perhaps, but my Chinese fan palm did suffer some damage once with just a very light hail storm, and that has fairly tough fronds. Obviously hail isn't any palm's best friend, or any other type of plant obviously!...See MoreJules
