Hi, I'm looking to install rubber flooring in our kitchen (like this: http://www.flexcofloors.com/flextones/?cbg_tz=420). I know that rubber can deteriorate when exposed to oil/fat. And the manufacturers have some scary looking maintenance docs. I'm wondering if anyone else has installed rubber flooring in their kitchen, what type of maintenance it requires and if you'd do it again? Thanks!

I am NOT a wood or flooring expert, but I do know that wood needs to acclimate to interior conditions before installation. As well, make sure to choose an installation contractor who has a lot of experience and a good track record with installing wood. He or she should know how to allow for normal expansion and contraction of the flooring over the warmer and cooler months. We have a wood floor in our large living/dining area and in the winter, there's a tiny gap in the floorboards on some spots in the middle of the room that closes up when the summer warmth comes along. We're house on slab down in Dana Point.

Any large format tile requires a lot of prep to get your floor flat, and without deflection. It requires more costly setting materials and higher skills. It’s installation is about double in price to a standard 12x12 that no one is doing these days. Plus the required prep. @ci_lantro I agree, the blue grout is not the right color blue for the tile. Re: floor tile, the floor in the picture in the unfinished concrete floor, ha! However, I am using Basic Cement Silver Porcelain Tile (Tile Bar) which is the same thing as Ivy Hill Essential Cement Silver Tile Porcelain (Home Depot) to tile the floor, and it looks very similar to concrete. The floor tile is actually the backing for the samples, so you can see that it is a silvery cement looking tile.
