The appliance company has closed in our area and does their own work but are paying for another company (my choice) to do the work. Electrolux will do nothing, as expected but actually potentially could have cost me needless expense and would not even tell me if the liner could be replaced. When I got the Elux initially, the enamel was flaking off and they replaced it immediately and the guy told me the liner couldn't be replaced and the porcelain was supposed to be fixed on the new one. When I called Elux to ask if it could be replaced, one person told me it could not be replaced and another told me it could but they said I had to pay for a service call to find out for sure as I could not talk to the tech department.. The service company came out and gave me a fixed price and the labor is a fraction of what the other company gives as a starting point for the Wolf. It is a complete tear down as well. I did not have an extended warranty on the Wolf because the salesman(same as for Elux) told me I would never need it for the Wolf as they stand behind the product so well. Ha! I wanted warranties on both for the electronics but the problems turned out to be in the physical materials. Also Gary, I don't know if you remember this but I had Dacor appliances(range and oven) first with blue enamel that when they were delivered had the enamel coming off in 1-2 inch sheets. Some thought they were dropped. They were bought back because the electronics never worked. I sort of wish I had my old Maytag Gemini back. It was trouble free. You can see why I won't be ever buying anything with blue enamel and at this point I don't think I want to reinvest in it for the Wolf. You were talking about the fact that they are making the bottom panel to come out in the new ovens (Wolf) to make it easier to replace kind of makes me think there are a lot of issues. Also the new liner would only have a 1 year warranty! So much for their own confidence in that blue porcelain.

Here are some resources on sound-reducing construction. The one immediately below, and the one that is hyper-linked, look pretty good. The other one (''Suppressproducts'') might just be an advertisement for their products, I am not sure. Basically sound is vibration that is transmitted from the source to your ear by rigid materials (sound travels well through hard materials like wood) and air. To reduce sound, you want to reduce the transmission of vibration. Air gap is better than a rigid connection. A heavy, soft material (e.g. rubber) is better than an air gap. Techniques are: - Double layers of drywall with dampening material like the referenced ''green glue'' between them (not simply screwing one sheet of drywall to the other) - Staggered studs w/ separate floor plates (essentially making two walls, no physical connection from one side to the other) - Sheet of sound dampening material between the staggered studs (reducing sound transmission through the airspace) - Sealing openings in the walls (electrical boxes, holes for plumbing, gaskets around and under door frame) - Special doors, or (less good) a conventional solid door, or (maybe an in-between alternative) a conventional door w/ a sound dampening layer on one side. - Dampening material between subfloor and joists, and between ceiling drywall and joists - Sound-proofing paint (I've not heard of this stuff before, I am skeptical it does much) Since the bathroom is a small space, you can use these techniques without too much additional expense, and just the loss of about 6'' if using staggered studs and double drywall layers. http://www.soundproofingcompany.com/index.php?/library/articles/elements_of_room_construction http://www.supressproducts.com/soundproofing-articles/Soundproof-Sheetrock.html Here is a link that might be useful: Link

To me, your table area is calling for a nook or banquette. You can use ikea cabinets to inexpensively and not permanently create a banqutte. I used 12" ikea upper cabinets to create a bench and it served my kids well for a long time. After a while, we had a 15" upholstered top made for the bench (which cost significantly more than the bench cabinets). Here is a picture that is similiar to your space: And here is one with a single bench: And lastly, here is my cheapo ikea bench: If I was to do the ikea bench again, I would use 2x4 pcs. of wood to create a base for the cabinets or leave the doors off the cabinets and use baskets for storage. The way I had it, the cabinet doors scraped on the floor. Good luck! Its a nice table and I think you will use the table alot once your little ones enter the homework years.

My advice is to go for it, Kathy! We didn't get the brass faucet (my husband didn't like the bridge style and besides, they were way too pricey for us....) We went with "champagne bronze" which works, but honestly, I don't love it. My hope was that it would echo the brushed gold cabinet pulls. It sort of does, but a brighter color would have been better. We haven't installed the pot filler yet (still waiting on that GE Cafe range; ugh), but my husband chose copper and now I'm worried since it doesn't match the faucet. We could have gone with copper on the faucet (the fake kind) since it stays shiny and the sink has the patina, and so would match the hardware on the appliances. I may end up changing out that sink faucet. (It may be too many metals; although we don't have stainless in there, so that helps.) Either way, they all look good with the Cambria Britannica gold, and the SW pure white cabinets as well as the green cabinets. I still haven't chosen a backsplash, believe it or not.... (please ignore the cereal and junk; just visited IKEA and the grocery store!)
