Is there such thing as a comfortable thong?
Comments (33)TR, I usually run with friends. A friend of mine started a running group a couple of years ago that meets as soon as we drop our kids at school. We live in a historic, touristy town, and our kids' school is right in the tourist district, so we meet there and run all over town. There's pretty much a standing open invitation that whoever can, meets in front of the local Starbucks at 8am. We all have different schedules so it's different people every day, and different paces so we all just kind of naturally pair off with whomever runs at our pace. On any given day, there's at least 3-4 people. Most of us run in local races and are usually training for something. I typically run with the same two women so we roughly have a plan each week for what we want to run (for instance, our long runs are usually on Fridays). Right now, we are getting ready for the Cherry Blossom 10-Miler in Wash DC a week from Sunday. We have another shorter race two weeks after that, then I'm running the Zooma Half here in Annapolis in June. I'm 43, have always run short distances for exercise, but only in the last few years have I entered races and done more distance running (no desire/time to do a marathon so half is my limit). I used to do strength training and pilates but my gym closed and only recently found one that I like and joined in December. I am currently do a TRX class for runners. I used to spin, but haven't done that recently. I do love it though. Dh is a novice cyclist - he'd like to do it more but hard to find time for long rides. We have four kids under the age of 13, so our days are quite full as they are all involved year-round in a variety of sports. I'm fortunate that I have time after I take them to school to exercise, but dh works FT, coaches two lacrosse teams and helps me schlep the kids around so he doesn't have much time to get on his bike. I'm trying to get back into more variety myself as I've gotten flabby since I stopped my strength training. I hope that I am still exercising when I'm your age - you are amazing!...See MoreAchilles tendon surgery
Comments (14)blfenton- His leg is always elevated because the throbing begins within minutes of having it lowered. Plus, the doctor told him to keep it elevated at all times to help with healing. Finding a comfortable position has been challenging. faron - surgery is surgery. I'm sure it is painful for you too. Thanks. bethpen - Our husbands must be cut from the same cloth. Same situation here, that is why I'm so concerned that he complains of pain. It MUST be bad. Pal - He was going up the stairs quickly, and his foot slip, then he heard it snap. No cool stories behind it! No cipro either. All the doctors and nurses at the hospital agreed that it usually happened when it wouldn't be expected. Yes oakley - I've been telling him to take the max pain meds for the first few days just to stay on top of it. This evening he tried to take just 1/2 a dose, but took the other half 45 minutes later. He hates taking medication but I think he sees that it is necessary for now. I do have to say that he appears to be a bit better today. Less wincing when he moves. Thanks everyone for your stories and tips. It is making me feel better about the situation....See MoreLove Me Tendon, Love Me True ----
Comments (21)You'll be hard pressed to find a part of the bovine that I haven't eaten, LOL, although I think maybe not the "pizzle". Then again, maybe, I don't know what all went into Grandma's beef stock and she seldom wasted a morsel. I really don't care for tendon, though, it has that gelatinous texture and leaves a film in my mouth that I don't like. So does Cap'n Crunch, go figure. I wonder if there is beef tendon in that? Although I have to admit that I seldom have the nerve to disagree with Anthony Bourdain, LOL. My Aunt Yoshika used to make stock from the fish heads and I thought that was weird when I was a kid, now I know that it's absolutely normal. I wish I had paid more attention to her cooking, she could have taught me many things, I think. I am glad you enjoy the tendons, though. I believe if an animal gives its life for our sustenance, we should use every part of it and waste nothing. To do otherwise would be disrespectful. Other cultures are much better at it than we are, whether for financial reasons or otherwise, but the end result is that others use parts like the cheeks, the tendons, etc., that we don't. Heck, I remember when we couldn't give away "ox-tail", it was the farmer's cut. Now it's amazing what they want for the stuff. Comments (19)First, Jewels,...yes, it could have been much worse...she might have had a head trauma or broken neck...there is always something to be thankful for. But as a grandmother of a die hard soccer granddaughter, I know how important the game is to them and yes, soccer is a very aggressive sport. I would at least discuss this with the coach or AD and see what might be happening between the girls...and if your dd is the only one who is getting excessive abuse from her teammate. If I remember correctly, your dd has a scholarship to play college soccer and I hope this does not ruin her chances for that. My grandson also had a good chance for playing college soccer as well, but due to knee accidents, he was not able to do so and it broke his heart. He is the college soccer team's manager, but that is not like the thrill of playing. Good luck to your dd!...See Moreplllog
