Well, am I over the top on this? I saw a new thread started. The member (Janedoe we'll say) already had one or more threads under her name. I did copying of the instructions thingy, and then asked that all future reviews be posted to the 'original' review thread....and provided the link. Then I went to the 'original' one and copied and pasted the review from the new thread, that can then be deleted, or drop off at page 67 sometime in the future...whatever. I know it might not matter too much what drops off, as the very oldest ones I'm guessing are no longer active traders, but for those that are active, I hate to see some of their reviews drop off because of them being spread over 2,3, 5, or 10 threads. Speaking of numerous review threads, I wonder just who have the most threads started for them. Anyone? Also...I think it best to direct them to the 'original' thread unless the name is mispelled (as Remy found one to be the other day) or unless the original one has a lot fewer reviews than a more recent one. Clear as mud? Thoughts? Sue...who may be going over the top...think?

I was just happy to hear I was not going to be out $500 for a leak they could not detect! The thing is the middle section of the unit sitting above the air filter and below what looks like some sort of big tank. Looking head on I think it looks like a 3D letter 'M" covered with copper pipes and such. Not sure if that . They said it may take a few weeks to get the part in and scheduled for replacement and its a 4 hour job. Hopefully the recharge lasts that long. I do not know if this is a reasonable wait or not. I may call the main office...I don't think these guys have anything to do with ordering the parts etc. They were very young and to be honest I was concerned if they had the experience to find the leak...apparently they did!

Most likely it's what the other posters mentioned: Floor movement. It can either be because the floor structure itself (joists/subfloor/underlayment) is not structurally sufficient for the tile you selected, or... It can be that the way the tile backer board and the tile itself was installed is unsound. The #1 reason that I see failed grout is movement within the floor. It's typically because the backer board used as an intermediary between the subfloor/underlayment and the tile was improperly installed. The common thread that I've seen in improper backer board installation is the installer simply sets the cement backer board down on the subfloor/underlayment and then fastens it with screws/nails, then tiles. Instead, thinset should be troweled on the subfloor/underlayment, the backer board should be bedded in the thinset, and then it should be fastened in place with nails or screws. The thinset isn't for bonding. The fasteners do that. The thinset fills any micro-voids between the subfloor/underlayment and the backer board. Without the thinset, there can be minor vertical movement within the installation. Rigid tiles and rigid grout tend to not do well when installed on a surface that can flex. Bedding the backer board in thinset is a part of the installation instructions for most tile backer boards. The second part, using the old grout? Portland cement-based grouts cures via hydration. They consume water and a chemical reaction occurs. Grouts in unopened packages have a typical shelf life of about six months or so. Some longer. Once the package is opened, over time and with exposure to air, the grout in the opened package can react with moisture in the atmosphere. In the opened package it may still look okay. Or it may be slightly clumped, the clumps may be easily broken up. But by having already reacted with some atmospheric moisture, the strength of the old grout can be some or significantly less that the strength of new grout. The lessened bond strength can result in the old grout cracking in the joint, or simply powdering away over time. Cracked grout can also be from too much water used when mixing it, and/or when cleaning the grout from the tile faces. The excess water reduces the strength of the grout. The cracked tile could be from one of a few things, but usually it's from floor movement with a well-bonded tile. Instead of the thinset failing and the tile itself popping loose, the tile itself fails.

My iPad suddenly switched yesterday to the new format for no discernible reason. Cannot switch it back. I've tried everything. I just wrote an email to Houzz about it. I asked how I could switch my view back to old format. I also mentioned how there are hundreds of additional posts on the new "Kitchens Discussions" that are from other forums and I don't want to wade through them, and also mentioned the busy and annoying layout.
