Seen while whale watching. Such a cute face!

Monarch cat from 2 years ago. Have seen no Monarchs this year, in fact very few of any kind of butterfly.

To correlate with Jemdandy's thread on the Declaration of Independence and freedom, on our trip to Washington DH and I made a point of visiting the Lincoln Memorial. Along with all the other historical details, I was interested to read on Wikipedia that a "popular legend is that Lincoln is shown using sign language to represent his initials, with his left hand shaped to form an "A" and his right hand to form an "L", the president's initials." This is plausible since the sculptor may have wished to pay tribute to "Lincoln for having signed the federal legislation giving Gallaudet University, a university for the deaf, the authority to grant college degrees."

Lgmd, come to think about it, I haven't seen too many lately either. A few skippers. I saw quite a few early on and I wonder if all this rain has something to do with it. The hummers haven't been active either. A few from around the gardens this morning before more rain hits

By the way, Jim, I Know you are a big cruiser and just wanted to mention that our cruise rates among the top 10 most fun, most interesting and best experiences I've ever had.

The canal experience is great. We'll be going from Vancouver to Ft. Lauderdale (through the canal) in mid-October. Gonna be fun. It will be our 4th trip through.
