Nice pictures. I love the owl too. Mine is an oxalis that I have managed to overwinter in the house for 3 years now. It usually looks pretty rough by spring, but it's amazing how quickly it bounces back and fills out. I have more flowers on it this year than I have ever have. It's a fun plant to have.

Casey, I would so love to go hiking with you. Not only would I see all that beauty, but maybe I would even learn how to take better pictures of it all. Here is some 'beauty' from my flowers yesterday. First Pennsylvania Leatherwing Beetle I have seen this year. A voracious aphid eater.

Thanks, Jasdip. She did. She passed on in 2007. She was 10 years old when I got Rocket as a kitten. He tormented her every day of the last two years of her life. I often regretted having him, but did what I could to keep her life from being too miserable. Seeing Rocket now, at age 14, it is hard to remember what a terror he was as a youngster.

I was thrilled a few years ago to check a major item off my bucket list, that of visiting the Library of Congress in Washington. The LC has a huge influence on libraries with its classification system, subject headings, enormous database and likely much more. The interior of the building is beautiful and the 2nd photo shows some of its lovely art and architecture.

To correlate with Jemdandy's thread on the Declaration of Independence and freedom, on our trip to Washington DH and I made a point of visiting the Lincoln Memorial. Along with all the other historical details, I was interested to read on Wikipedia that a "popular legend is that Lincoln is shown using sign language to represent his initials, with his left hand shaped to form an "A" and his right hand to form an "L", the president's initials." This is plausible since the sculptor may have wished to pay tribute to "Lincoln for having signed the federal legislation giving Gallaudet University, a university for the deaf, the authority to grant college degrees."

Thanks, Mare and Nicole! LOL at Nicole. They do last for a couple of days at least!! My Baltimore Oriole daylily has lots of blooms on it and they've been there several days at least. LOL Also I love your Sprague Lake picture. I had the great pleasure to camp near there back in '73! Beautiful part of the country!!

Nicole, we spent a week one night in a mobile home in Estes Park. It was during a hail storm in early September. The noise of the hail on the roof of the mobile home and trying to navigate through the streets is firmly burned in our mostly pleasant memories of our first trip west to tour Colorado by motorcycle. Snow plows had to be brought in to plow up all that hail so traffic could move the next morning.
