Hummingbird, don't know the name, and Kangaroo paws.

caflowerluver, your hummer feeding on the Crocosmia flowers is an Anna's hummingbird. If you look closely, the red feathers, looking more black in the photo, also go up on the top of the head.

It is finally empty

California state flower, the California poppy. Closed at night and on cloudy days. Opens up in the sun. Foliage looks a little like carrot tops, and it has a taproot too.

Caflowerover-- my kangaroo paw is blooming but has barely any foliage. It's the mini version, not the regular size kangaroo paw. It's in full sun. I wonder if the minis are not as vigorous as regular size. It's been in the ground less than a year.

Socks- I am in Japan about to go to Miyajima today. Thank you for all of the great help that you gave me!

socks - I don't know much about the plant. I just planted it in the ground several years ago. I pretty much ignore it and it just keeps coming back bigger each year. It is a tall one. The hummingbirds and butterflies love it.
