Great bird pictures today!! Bob, are the majority of yours cormorants?

Mine is something I found while riding my horse yesterday.

Casey, we have Eurasian/American Wigeon hybrids here, though so far I haven't gotten a shot of one.

An Eared Grebe.

I thought I remembered our guide saying they were Anhinga but looking closely these have curved tips at the end of their bills, so they are indeed cormorants.

Here are a couple of other bird images from that trip:

Bob, those are not Anhinga or Cormorants, they appear to be Brown Pelicans.
The second shot is either a White, Great Blue or Gray Heron. I can't decipher the exact color or markings.

Nice white tail shed, Murraysmom. Do you collect them? Make anything out of them?

I meant the earlier images that I posted were cormorants rather than anhingas. The ones on the boat are indeed pelicans, as are some of these:

I love pelicans! They remind me of creatures from the age of the dinosaurs. :) Love those sandhill cranes. We see them sometimes here in the winter.

Marcia, here is a weird looking bird I saw at the San Diego Zoo a few years ago. I have forgotten the poor bird's name.

Ahh, thanks, Jodi!! I couldn't remember the name. It's just so prehistoric looking. :)

Scientists say birds are the direct descendents of the dinosaurs. If you look at a sparrow you think "No way, not a chance" but looking at the Shoebill Stork, or maybe a Cassowary you can definitely imagine a dinosaur staring back at you.
