Limited size on copy and paste?
Comments (7)Yep, tried drag and drop, no good. This isn't a "show stopper", I can always download the update again on the second computer, or use a memory stick to physically carry the patch between computers. This may be my action, I have two additional computers to update. I now see the subject update is now available on MS Update along with Framework SPs, totaling over 600 Mbytes. In any case, my interest remains on figuring out why I can't copy a large file over my home Ethernet, but I can copy smaller files, e.g., 5 MBytes...i.e., the Ethernet seems to be working....See MoreCannot copy/paste
Comments (34)Without spending a fair bit of time, even an advanced PC user is not usually able to distinguish between advisable and inadvisable updates. An intermediate or beginning level user may not even understand the issues addressed in a particular update, much less have knowledge to determine a thoughtful course of action. Program update release decisions are made by people with the knowledge and understanding to know when changes should be pushed out. I leave those decisions to them and never give it another thought. Mistakes are made, yes, that's what the restore function is for. I rarely need to use it. Yes, and others have said, to each his own decision. But in doing so, don't fool yourself into thinking that you know more about it than you do and that you're accomplishing anything. If you resist the update a dozen times and then tire of the message and give it the go-ahead, you've really accomplished nothing but to delay what might have been an important update....See MoreCopy and Paste
Comments (10)"Yes, it works in word or outlook, but try to paste it in a message on the forum or an email. It has something to do with html. I don't pretend to understand but seems to be a known problem." Some forums don't let you paste images directly into them. For those, you need to upload an image to a hosting site like photobucket or imageshack and link to the image in the forum. I'm not sure I understand how pasting in email is different from pasting in outlook, since outlook is an email client....See Morecopy/paste image into Gmail?
Comments (9)I'm sorry, I'm not making myself clear. I'm wondering if I can highlight an image from a web page, copy it (right click/copy) and paste (right click/paste) an image into GMail the very same way I can do it in Thunderbird. I'm trying to avoid having to save the image to a directory and then retrieve it to post it in an email. Does that make sense? I may be asking for something that isn't supported in any way by Gmail. :) bob14, I might be misunderstanding GMail, but in my version there appears to be an alternative way to insert an image as long as I have enabled "insert image" in the labs (which I've done). According to the instructions I should be able to click on the "insert image" icon, click on "web address URL" and paste the URL of the image. The image should, then, show up in the email. That's what I'm not able to get to work correctly. Maybe the answer to my question is...no. Thank you both very much!...See Morealbert_135 39.17°N 119.76°W 4695ft.
