Comments (18)Thank you for the comments and ideas. We already own the faucet and it is installed with the handle to the side. I haven't found the manual yet. We have two drawers with many manuals for things but not that one! My DH said it might be in the safe with the receipt. I'm not sure it's a Moen--it's not the model in my link, at any rate, so I want to find the manual before proceeding further. Thanks for the visuals, Breezygirl and A2gemini. Those help. Fouramblues, thanks for mentioning the hot/cold direction for the handles. I think ours would be opposite of the norm, too, so that's another thing to think about. I thought briefly about a Tapmaster but we already have so much stuff under our sink (RO unit and tank, GD and DW wires & plugs, etc.) that I didn't want to add one more thing. Comments (20)I too have gone more to immediately drying and putting away things that I hand-wash. I got some new cookware that I just determined I would hand-wash and then from there moved to just drying with a clean dishtowel and putting away on the spot. That has been a good move for me--not just because of not needing a large rack for pots & pans, but also because it makes one less "delayed" action staring at me ( I know that the air-drying is the action you're benefiting from, but for me it is one more thing left out to put away later, so it felt like I am putting away all the time--the dishwasher, the hand items, endlesss). I confess I still use a counter drain rack, but it is very small--about 6" x 12' or so stainless steel, and fits at the back of the counter so I can still use the counter in front, and has just a small rack area that can hold a few small items and has a silverware holder, so I do put knives, veggie brush there and may leave them there until used again the next day, so that is in part its purpose. I might be up for doing away with it in a future re-model. It will just depend on whether you and your wife can come up with a new workflow that has some advantage over what you are doing. Now you are using half your sink to store the dishdrainer. Maybe you could tie into the towel-on-drainboard area, knowing that it is so easy to remove the towel. Do you find that the dishrack does not really hold your items that well anyway (you'll say no if you found the perfect rack for the type of dishes you use!)? Comments (7)This is one of these individual-preferences things. I personally find the Cascade confining, and would not have one for my kitchen. I like a big single bowl. I don’t care about having a shelf for draining or a shelf in my sink at all. That’s me, and others feel differently, while others feel like me. My advice is to go to a place that has the Cascade on display. Bring with you your most frequently-used pot or pan. Pretend to handle it in the display sink. Also do same with a single-bowl sink. See how you feel. You can’t go by internet photos and specs. You need to see one IRL. Edited you add: just noticed that @Lisa Versaci is responding to a 2-year-old post. Comments (24)As others have posted, you can buy a sink with a ledge and the accessories fit into the ledge so they are more flush with the counter and more stable. I am buying a sink with this kind of construction and have purchased a grid that will straddle the sink - it can be used to dry dishes; keep veggies when prepping and when not in use can go in the sink bottom to protect the bottom of the sink from heavy cookware. I am also getting a sponge caddy which will hold wet stuff to the side and cutting boards that will also fit in the ledge - poly for meat to go in the DW and wood for everything else. Many brands have this kind of configuration so it should be relatively easy to find if you are replacing your sink. And you can always put a small bowl in the bottom if you need a basin for some reason.
