Changing from double bowl to single bowl sink - hard?
Comments (39)red lover, I bought the blancowave sink in the link for my pending remodel. Got a deal on ebay, so went ahead and bought it. After just looking at it lying there in the box for a few weeks whispering to me how much I would like to be using it, I finally caved and jerry-rigged an installation in the non-remodeled kitchen over the weekend. (It is an undermount sink, I have laminate counters, it is supposed to need a 42" sink base, I have 36 inches, the hole in the counter for the existing sink was totally the wrong size and shape, blah blah whatever. watch me make it work anyway). So far, I love it. The large side is big enough to hold my largest baking sheet, roasting pan, or largest skillet with handle; the small side is still big enough for a colander or stockpot. This is what I was doing with it Sunday. From January 26, 2012 Here is a link that might be useful: blancowave 42 double...See MoreSilgranite sink: do i want the super single or cascade super sing
Comments (11)I have had my super single for two days and I am in love! I love the stainless rack on the bottom. I watered plants in it today. Don't have to worry about stuff on the bottom touching dishes. I like the idea of the Cascade, but I love the fact that everything can lay flat in this giant sink. It's fantastic! I plan to get an expandable colander to use for rinsing veggies, etc. You won't regret it if you get this one. mbarstow- I think i know what splash factor is now. My new faucet is a lot higher than my old one. I have a Delta Allora, which I'm also deeply in love with. Since it sits higher, the water does sort of splash out. We're getting the hang of it. I think we just need less water pressure. By the way, my drain is off to the side....See MoreSingle Bowl Kitchen Sinks
Comments (34)Just in case you still need another single bowl opinion, we did some kitchen reno's last year. I got a lovely (and expensive) Kohler cast iron enamelled sink. It has a huge lovely bowl and then a very small one with a wire basket for doing veggies on the fitted cutting board that also came with it. The wire basket seems to stay set over the small bowl all the time and hold things like the apple slicer that we use almost daily and then rinse and a tea ball after it is rinsed out. Other than that the small sink never gets used. I treat my sink as a 1 bowl sink now all the time. Thankfully the large bowl is very large with the low divide and I can fit almost any huge roaster or frying pan in it. I love my new sink, but if I was replacing it, I would get a single bowl sink. I often use a large mixing bowl or pot to hand wash smaller items in before washing it up. I use the dishwasher a lot but when I am hand drying, I have a nice drying mat that I set on the counter beside the large sink....See MoreReplacing 60/40 2-bowl sink with a Single Bowl Sink
Comments (38)The faucet and dispenser holes are filled with scraps from the cut-out. This is a job I did last week; removing a failed polyester bowl from a polyester solid surface top and replacing it with a stainless steel sink. No countertops were removed in the process. It isn't that much different with stone, the trick is making sure the footprint of the replacement is identical to or larger than that of the original. I've had budget-conscious clients that didn't care that the negative reveals were off on their replacement sinks in stone. Sink, faucet, soap dispenser, and disposal replacement, plumbing, top refinish and cleanup (ooo..it's messy) just over 3K. That's a Mirabelle sink made in Vietnam. Nice....See MoreM Miller
