Need advice on new sprinkler heads (Dead spots near heads)

Standing on my trampoline didn't give much of an aerial view, but I think i captured the problem: https://goo.gl/photos/M1RbaHiqwGUapaCD9
We get ~9 inches of rain a year, so i can't count on rain helping. I am in southern New Mexico, and about the time the temperature starts staying over 100 degrees my lawn starts to do this.
I am watering about 40 minutes every other day
The only area that gets any shade ever is the top right corner under the tree.
The lawn is mostly a bluegrass variant (Some bermuda has snuck in) .
I am using the small Rainbird rotary heads.
Does anyone have a suggestion for some compatible sprinkler heads that will get better coverage within the 1 - 5 foot range?
