Not sure how to handle this
Comments (43)I'm gonna skip over the answers so that I will NOT be biased... when my dad gave me money from my great-grandmother, I shared it. But it was my choice to do so. I'd love to know if all great-grandchildren all received the same amount, but I don't even know that. I did buy one indulgence that was purely mine for a remembrance, but then put the money into the general household funds. ________________ And now that I am done, I will go back and read, but let me preference this with: I don't understand the mentality of children who are married thinking they have a larger right to "inheritances" than single siblings. Why? Life is tough that way. Married people have shared resources and the money should not be as deeply needed. And I would've said this when I was married. There is a need either for a single or a married person. I cannot see my way to agree with more for married children? But that's just me....See MoreDescribe Christmas morning at your house
Comments (19)It's just Jan & I here, so on Christmas morning I stick my head out long enough to look out the window..See the snow and cold, and I tuck my head back under the covers to continue my hybernation. Jan was an only child and her Mother & Dad have both passed away and all my family are over 600 miles from here, so it's just the two of us. Somewhere around lunch time we get up and finish cooking our holiday feast, then we sit back and discuss all the things that we intended to buy for Christmas, but had already purchased throughout the year, because we needed them at the time, not three or four months later....LOL By example, in August our refrigerator died and Jan was in a tizzy because she simply could not figure out how to fit a new one into our budget.... I sat back and thought a bit and I said, "I got an idea, how about we get one time and I will pay the bill out of my money, rather than the household budget, and we will call it a Xmass present." At 9am the next morning we had a new fridge delivered and yesterday I tied a big red bow on the handle." We do go through the pretext of exchanging a few stocking stuffer items, but in truth, as far as big ticket items go, we either have them or don't need them, so whats the point?...See MoreHelp me pick a gift for my daughter
Comments (6)Perhaps you could find a gift that highlights her positive qualities and includes a cat. For example, if she's musically inclined. https://www.zazzle.com/cats_brass_section_floor_mat-256497967552035819...See MoreMother's Day -(do you) Gift for daughter?
Comments (8)This doesn't answer your question since my DD isn't a mother. But her birthday is just before Mother's Day so when I give her a birthday gift I also buy something for her dog since he is like her child. I tend to buy several little items. This year it was fudge, a lavender spa gift basket, a new coffee mug (she favors large ones and I found one that was 27 ounces) and then of course a check since that's what she needs the most. Her condo is on the small size so I try to give disposable gifts unless she's specifically mentioned something. It was easier when she owned a home with a yard because she loves to garden and I'd find a plant that she wanted. We attended the PHS Flower show every year and that was always a good source. My DDIL is a Mom and this is only her second Mother's day. According to my son her favorite gift is a GC to a local salon for a massage or hair cut and manicure. That's so easy I think that just might become my annual gift along with volunteering to baby sit. I used to pride myself on creative gift giving but is seems like the older the kids get the harder it is to be inventive. I really dislike giving something they might not like or need or anything that adds to the general clutter. They are past the 'just starting out' phase which makes it a little harder....See Moredeegw
