It is just a few days after her birthday and we do birthdays on sundays, so some years, it is 2 small gifts (like this year) other years its one big gift for the two days. the same goes for fathers day as he husbands birthday is very close to fathers day. This year he gets one big gift .

As I said, I do but it's more of a general house gift. Through the year if I see something I think she would like, I do get it but I am always pretty not creative when I would like to have good ideas for gifting in general. I just had this realization recently so I was curious what others do.

This doesn't answer your question since my DD isn't a mother. But her birthday is just before Mother's Day so when I give her a birthday gift I also buy something for her dog since he is like her child. I tend to buy several little items. This year it was fudge, a lavender spa gift basket, a new coffee mug (she favors large ones and I found one that was 27 ounces) and then of course a check since that's what she needs the most. Her condo is on the small size so I try to give disposable gifts unless she's specifically mentioned something. It was easier when she owned a home with a yard because she loves to garden and I'd find a plant that she wanted. We attended the PHS Flower show every year and that was always a good source.

My DDIL is a Mom and this is only her second Mother's day. According to my son her favorite gift is a GC to a local salon for a massage or hair cut and manicure. That's so easy I think that just might become my annual gift along with volunteering to baby sit.

I used to pride myself on creative gift giving but is seems like the older the kids get the harder it is to be inventive. I really dislike giving something they might not like or need or anything that adds to the general clutter. They are past the 'just starting out' phase which makes it a little harder.

We don't really do "mothers day gifts" really. I never expect anything. That being said, my daughter did this year, give me a colouring book, and a Grogu mug this year. It was a nice surprise. My daughter is 35 and does not want children. My daughter in law is the mother of my only grandchild and we just wish each other a happy Mothers Day via Facebook each year, although for her first Mothers Day, I made sure to give her a gift and nice card.

I gave my daughter a candle and a ball spinner wind charm. She gave me a card with a lot of cash in it.

My daughter is divorced and her girls are still in grade school. I have the girls do little chores for me to earn some money. Then we go to the nursery and they pick out a hang plant for their mama. With them earning the money they really feel that the gift was from them.

My hubby also buys me a gift every year. He said after all I am the mother of his children. This year it was a concrete bear statue for camp I was admiring earlier.

I'm not a mother, but I remember one year was especially rough...after Dad passed, Mom was busy cleaning out the old house to sell it and of course we helped. She was selling it and moving into a condo and of course we helped in so many ways... Mother's Day was approaching and I was teasing her that with all the work we were doing for her, it was like I was the mother and she was the child. Wouldn't you know, on Mother's Day, she gave me an orchid. I still have it today and think of her every time I see it. I had such a great Mom.
