Belinda's Dream is a must. Big healthy bush. Tons of beautiful, fragrant pink blooms with nice cutting stems. Beautiful foliage that stays clean all the time. Also Grand Amore. A beautiful red HT that blooms like crazy and stays clean all season. It passed Germany's ADR 2 yr test, so it should do quite well over on this side of the pond.

I have a list of daylilies that I would like to get. The kids money won't cover all of these, but hey, I was going to get some anyway, wasn't I? lol! These are in order of preference, but if anyone has grown any of these and has feedback, I would appreciate it. My top six: 1. Early Fragrance 2. Francoi Verhaert 3. Bold Encounter 4. Autumn Wood 5. Hi Jessica.....No, my gardens are not AHS Display gardens....Just my Fun Gardens..:) Thank you, I try and keep the gardens nice. Yese, my Daughter just got married on June 30th. I did have bowls of "floating Daylilies on all of her tables...but the "Florist" did such a beautiful job...my little babies just blended in and were pleasing to those that appreciated them for what they are...:) We didn't have the wedding here....it was about 30 miles west and the Pastor was the same one that married my wife and I 32 years ago...a family member we all just refer to as Uncle Joe.....Thanks for the Congrat's..:) Suzanne....the bed is that way for many reasons..... 1. Would like to see that the Dayliliy can stand on it's own...it has to be tough to survive here. 2. I have a well and can't be watering the entire acre. The water in this area is scarce and I don't want to take the chance of running it dry. 3. I want to make my "Mailbox Walk" a bed of the ones that do "best" here.... 4. It's like a study to see the best display of bloom...bloom count...branching...height and foliage. Moving up the ones that display these traits best, while in rough conditions...thinking that if the do well in those conditions...then they should do real well...where they get extra water...the best soil...and some extra TLC. 5. The Mother Nature "L" bed is along the roadside...I don't put the most expensive ones in there..they are watched for a year in a special area in the back yard to be evaluted...and then placed in a "Keeper" bed....for further evaluation. 6. The Mother Nature bed is in Full Sun...all day..no shade at all. The other beds get breaks from the sun...I have many trees over 100 feet tall that provide a break for all of the other beds...during the day. 7. I can check for colour fastness....true scape height and colour contrast in the Mother Nature Bed. Those are a few of the reasons I do the beds the way I do...trial and error is an excellent teacher....:) I am still a novice too Suzanne....learning more every Season...:) Thanks for your kind comments...:) A few more this morning...one very old one...one a newbie this season.....and one I just think is awesome...but I can not capture it's true beauty and colour....I shall continue to try and get it....just right....Enjoy. This old Wild Daylily has such a neat edge...it would be awesome with one of Bob's "Eye's" while keeping it's edge...IMHO...a neat Dip. This one came this Spring and has gotten a bit better with each bloom...and it's still blooming... I will get the beautiful coral tones on this one....someday..:) The last one is moving on Up to the Mailbox walk....a cheapie and an older one...but it's just awesome...IMHO...:) The pinks in this one...well they just don't get any better...I think. Oh I'm sure those earlier roses are around somewhere, and they'd be stunning. For me, April is tulip season and I'm not necessarily looking to push the rose window too much earlier. The lilacs are a great counterpart to the tulips, but they only have a fleeting season so I make space for them as they're like nothing else all year. I may look around for one of these early rose suggestions from MG and AnneCecelia to tide over into May, but I'm actually glad for a little breathing space in May as I'm madly planting roses up to rose blooming season in most years. I can admire them in your yards like I do for the great rose photos from warmer zones as well. Incidentally, MG I've probably referred to you as "she" in other posts, but I don't know if I've ever double checked to make sure that's right. With your login name it isn't clear, and there are plenty of guys enthusiastic about roses (like Jim for instance!) in addition the women that post.
