I know that over at Old House Web, a number of folks swear by their Adams storms. I don't see the need for interchangeable screens in both upper and lower positions; lower screens should fill the bill nicely, except in rare circumstances where you need to open the upper sash for ventilation. (Like I do in my attic dormers). I bring this up because it is also a less expensive option. Casey

What about using tie wraps instead of sewing for those who might be challenged in that area - LOL? If it is something like the stem of the mushroom where you can put your hand in you can do it so the clasp part is on the inside and then you just cut off the excess. I get tiewraps at the dollar type stores and the clasp part is small and the strap part is flat enough that once you cover with cement you aren't going to be able to tell how it is put together anyway. We were cleaning out behind our shed today and came across a bale of chicken wire and I was thinking of a similar project, but the gauze is really too large to have a sturdy frame to build on. You're awful brave to take on such a project on your first try, but seems like you and DH are a great team. Good luck and can't wait to see the finished project. Here we go again! No idea what is going on yet people are making absolute statements of "fact" and not knowing what they're talking about. Unfortunately you asked the wrong people. What you need to do first is find out what you signed. Short of advice to find out what you signed, forget all advice that is given under presumption and guess. I'm glad to hear you're going to check on what you signed. KUDOS! I'm sure you learned your lesson to sign NOTHING without getting a copy. No copy? No signature. Period. Hospitals and clinics are amazed and angered often when I won't even sign until a duplicate is out. Also, don't take their word that they'll get you a copy afterward. I made that mistake once. Cynic Rule #4: No copy? No signature! And saying "...the HIPAA law protects you" is an ignorant statement in this case. HIPAA does not protect you if you sign a waiver, which is often the first thing you have to sign for medical care. For anyone to make absolute statements of what is happening or can happen is naive since we don't know what was involved. I would doubt that it's a scam since it's through the Dr's office and given their liability in the event of a scam, they're not likely to take a chance. However, they might think something is good for you that you don't think is good for you. You're doing the right thing by finding out what you signed. Then you can start asking intelligent questions and stand a chance of getting some at least somewhat educated answers. Good luck!

Thank you, jennifw. I think you are right. Just one point of clarification: as I understand it, there is re-sanding vs. re-buffing -- re-buffing being just dealing with the layers of finish vs. going all the way down to the wood with sanding. My sense (and hope) is that re-buffing and re-coating (as opposed to going all the way to re-sanding and re-coating) could do the trick. Would that be your thought as well? Thank you!
