Comments (23)@HU-69698668 and @HU-502140888 I ended up replacing the time and it has been working great ever since!! I was a little nervous doing so since the guys at the repair shop seemed skeptical that it would fix it. I was also a little nervous about buying a $150+ part when we paid $200 for the washer and dryer set 10 years ago. I would double check the lid switch to make sure it isn't the issue. The lid switch has gone out on us a couple times....See MoreHVAC turns on AC after hitting temp in heat mode
Comments (9)I'll be interested to hear if Nest helps you. Our Nest zorched during the recent polar Vortex for a similar reason, only it was not fixable and the Next was dead, and it tried to take our boiler transformer down with it. Customer service was useless, both that night and the next morning I called to complain and after an hour of waiting on hold and talking to various people, they said that because the Nest was out of warranty, the best they could offer was 40% off a new one. In my opinion that is ridiculous; it was less than 5 years old and they should stand behind their product. The guy promised to escalate the complaint further but I have heard absolutely nothing from him since. I won't buy another Nest (even though I loved it) and I hope your experience with them is better....See MoreHVAC: Blower only runs on "Heat" mode, not "On" or "Circulate".
Comments (10)however offering some help or advise, beyond call a professional would have proven more useful than cynical comments . Kevinande, The problem with your comment is that HVAC is a skilled trade in which codes and procedures must be followed to prevent injury to unskilled person working on such equipment, damage to equipment in question, damage to the building in which the equipment is located and health related problems of occupants at a later date due to the lack and skill of those attempting these kinds of things. The help I offer on this board is advice for those who appear to me, not attempting to do the work themselves but hiring professional help. This is a tough love situation. Your home is one of the biggest liabilities you will have in your lifetime. In my experience you only make things worse attempting to do things you do not have the skill or knowledge to do. I have been running HVAC service for 24 years. I will never support a DIY attitude because: in every situation in which the home owner has attempted such things before calling me has only made matters worse, increased the cost to fix the problem up to an including the need to pull equipment and replace it. If you fail to heed my warning, you get the brunt end of the stick. It's because I care I say these things. [Tough Love]...See MoreBlower only runs on AC.
Comments (3)You have to be able to 'TROUBLE SHOOT' why the blower only comes in AC mode and not in heat. It's not always the same thing. This is why HVAC is an 'in person' kind of job. If you don't know what you're doing... you will probably only make a mess of things. If I have seen a disassembled unit by an amateur 1 time, I have seen it a thousand times. It 'rarely' ends well. You make the job harder doing these things and often times cause more damage to your system. Trane brand in particular charge premium for repair parts, so it's in your best interest to call for professional help. (Make sure who ever you call is licensed HVAC contractor.) I service the Katy, Texas area....See Morekenjwy
