The cellulase must be somewhat aggressive as in one wash I noticed a significant reduction of pills on a red t-shirt. There was also more red lint than usual in the dryer's lint filter, so much so I was actually alarmed when I emptied the filter. Persil Sensitive has cellulase but I haven't noticed much of a difference in using it.

Mind you I haven't used a detergent with cellulase for at least a year, so that may be why I noticed a dramatic difference in one wash. The cellulase action hasn't been as pronounced in later washes, but I can tell it's making a difference.

Costco detergent pods are a customer favourite too, and when I use fabric softener (I have cut my usage dramatically!!!!) I now only reach for Costco/Kirkland softener. I love that it is NOT animal fat based and the scent is light and is very reminiscent, if not the same as Target's now sadly dead Spring Bloom (both made by Sun/Henkel).

Spring bloom is not dead yet :) When I go to Target.com its there and available for ordering. Stock up! I just did!

I have been a member of Costco for ages and have not tried their liquid detergent. I have this feeling a bottle is coming home with me soon!

Larsi, I recall us having a discussion about the Costco pods. I believe we came to the conclusion they were the same as the All Stainlifter pods, so essentially they are awesome.

I really think you can't go wrong buying any of their laundry products, especially when they're on sale, which is pretty much every other month. I wish I could buy the scented versions because they all smell really nice. Especially their dryer sheets...They smell divine.

I'm afraid to buy so much of one detergent. I already own too much lol. I eye it often when I'm there though and wonder ...

@livesbetter, can you split the supply with someone, or two? Then you could try it out, lol.

Tideman sent me Kirkland powder. .it was wonderful. I have no Costco near me, but I think Sams club liquid detergent is probably the same as ALL with Stainlifters. And I know the FS is the same as Spring Bloom.

Sadly, I can't use Kirkland liquids in my top loader Speed Queen because the drain pipe must be too narrow or something. The SQ blows bubbles out the pipe and up and down my wall where I can't reach them to wipe them up before they start to absorb into the drywall. Using less detergent did not stop the bubble blowing. I had a plumber come out to snake the pipe thinking it might be full of lint and he told me the pipe was clear, I just had an enthusiastic new washer and to give away the detergent and switch to powder instead (I was still a liquid user in the first two weeks I had the SQ). I gave a near full bottle of the Kirkland scented away at week two of ownership of the SQ.

It's nice to have a detergent that pleases you!

My Mother's Maytag did the same thing. Guy at the store where it was bought said Maytag has strong pumps also and to just wrap the washer drain and standpipe together with duct tape. Did that and stopped the suds blowing out. Didn't hurt washer cause flow is not restricted. Hers is 35 years old and runs fine. One repair in all these years.

Sea and Sparky, I can see that happening if the pump drains with a lot of pressure.

I haven't experienced that with my machine and see minimal suds during the wash.

Good to know. I'm just about out of my liquid Tide and will be heading to Costco this week. I've never bought detergents or softeners without scent though...I like scent :-)

Always, you'd probably like the scented version of the Kirkland. It's sweet but old fashioned smelling.

Thanks Sparky and Greeny. I too had no suds when the washer was washing, it was just bubble city on the way out the pipe. I took to pinning a wash cloth around the exit pipe and washer drain pipe. I thought about the duct tape solution but I was worried about mold growth. All is well as long as I don't use Kirkland liquid or Cheer liquid. Those two...bubbles all over the wall. But I do like both of those detergents IF I am going to use a liquid, but I'm a powder person these days.

For note, when I was using the Kirkland liquid in my old front loader I also bought a bottle of Wisk liquid from Amazon (couldn't find Wisk locally) since we have the body oils and sweat issues with our laundry and Wisk is supposed to be good for that. I could of sworn the liquid Wisk and liquid Kirkland, if not the same detergent, were very similar. Down to scent, appearance, performance and bubbles out the drain pipe (I gave that bottle of Wisk away too when I got the SQ). I wonder if our Wisk users could have a nice replacement of their dearly departed Wisk with your Kirkland liquid? Wasn't Wisk killed off by Henkel?

Sea, I think you're on to something about Kirkland being very similar to Wisk. Remind me what's your favorite powder? I'd imagine it meets your needs for body oil and sweat removal?

My fav powder is Cheer powder because it doesn't strip my darks and it clears through DH's strong oils and sweat. I do use Borax on just about every load though...I just have to with his laundry. I like that Cheer powder has a light fresh scent but when the clothes are dry there is little to no scent. It also doesn't fill the house with perfume when the washer is running which is important to me. Some days I extremely sensitive to fragrance. I never tried the free formula Kirkland detergent. Now I wish I had since you like it so much.

Thanks Sea. I'm not surprised your go to powder is Cheer. Many here love it. I've never personally tried it since I've been afraid of the perfume. I should really buy a small box to see how we like it.

I'm also really like the powder All detergent for the same reasons above. It's a little work horse if I pair it with Borax.

I'm not sure you can find a small box of Cheer powder. I bought large use boxes on-line. I was fine with that because I know I'm going to use and I have to have my overfill stash fully stocked to sleep well at night. :)

I would be happy to send you a baggie of powder Cheer and All if you would like. That way you could see if it agrees with you and your housemates without making the large box commitment. If they are too fragranced for you, you could gift them to a friend or drop off at the laundromat. I did that with some Tide pods from last summer. They just about suffocated me with the fragrance. I felt like the pod fairy that day at the laundromat. A bag of pods for you, and you, and you! lol.

I don't want to scare anyone, but a few months ago I had suds comming out of my standpipe, only with sudsy detergent. Hubs and son ran a snake and all was fine..or so they thought...but since this continued I was not convinced all was fine...ended up we had a partial clog in the main so water flushed fine but heavy suds couldn't. SEA SEA dear how long has this been happening?

It's funny you mention a clog in the main. We had that too. Three times in less than a year. Yes, I've funded quite a few plumber's down payments on new cars this calendar year. Ugh. We live in an older subdivision in a pine forest, so roots in the pipes are normal problems here. :( We had been good for a few years, while all our neighbors were repeatedly blocked during our good spell. Last year and this past winter it was our turn. I wonder if there is a connection to the bubble blowing with sudsy detergents? The bubble blowing happened prior to our blockage and subsequent snakings. The plumbers always tell me it's 70-80 ft out, which is beyond our property line. It's in the city sewer where our flow goes through. Getting the city to replace their sewer lines...they have an answer for everything regarding how every plumber is wrong in their measurements. Anyhow, if we want to flush or wash dishes or laundry, we pay to have the roots snaked out, and so do the neighbors. No use talking to the city at this point. My last plumber said to use a crystal product--flush it down the toilet during the winter and unscrew the clear out trap when snow is not covering it and pour the crystals down. It's supposed to burn the roots without killing the tree and the roots look elsewhere after that. I don't know if it works, but I haven't had a clog since I've been using this. It's cheaper than a Christmas day plumber's bill that's for sure! Time will tell if it works.

Was at Costco today so checked out the Kirkland. Both my husband and I really liked the scented version. My husband commented it's an old fashioned laundry smell - which is something since he doesn't know the first thing about laundry. Has anyone used it and know how much scent is left after washing? Would be ideal if faint.

I only have the Kirkland Ultra Clean HE powder, its very very old fashioned smelling and just leaves a faint very clean scent, but I think its been discontinued. Too bad because its really fabulous.

I would prefer powder but we only have the two liquids (scent and free).

Tideman sent me the Kirkland I believe he did tell me it was discontinued and that was quite awhile ago.

Livebetter, I can't attest to it's scent though it does smell strong in the bottle. You should try it and let us know what you think. There's no risk with Costco's generous return policy.

I suppose you could mix the scented and free version for a lighter version. If I could share with someone is try that.

I have been using the scented version for a while now (it was on sale, my weakness). Over all, it is a good detergent, even though I prefer powders. I have soft water and I need to dose carefully to avoid too many suds, however, it does rinse well. I cannot ever use it on towels, or I have to rinse all day. The only thing it lacks is in the bleaching department. It will not shift stains on it's own that require any sort of bleaching (tomato, mustard, etc.).
