I would try ¼ cup for an average size load. What I did when I got a new machine was to use a non scented fabric softener so I could smell how much detergent was being left behind. Of course you could always skip the fabric softener, that way you could feel and smell residual detergent. A few weeks of that should help you determine proper dosing. I found I would never use as much as ½ cup and never below ¼ cup unless it was a very small load. Hope that helps.

When you said cup, are you referring to standard kitchen measuring cup or the cup that came with the detergent? Thanks for your suggestions.

Standard Measuring cup. I tend to toss anything that comes with the detergent because it tends to confuse the issue.

I use the kirkland powder for my FP aquasmart toploader (which uses less water than standard TL). The most I use in a large load is just under half of the green cup provided in the box. most loads are just 1/4, which are still very big loads, just not filled to the brim :) clothes come out clean and without residue. HTH

I've been using this brand since I got my fl Samsung 18 months ago. I use a half scoop (about 1/3 cup) for normal loads. For heavy soils, big loads and whites I use more, 3/4 scoop (1/2 cup). Love the detergent; clothes are clean and *very* lightly scented (we've got allergic types in the family).

A good friend in Phoenix loves this detergent (and Kirkland d/w detergent too). She got an HE washer last year and says this is the only laundry detergent she's ever used.

I know this post is a little old, but if anyone reads this who has a box of the Kirkland detergent could you please tell me the size of the included scoop in relation to a measuring cup or spoons (i.e. a full scoop = 1/8 cup or x of teaspoons).

I ask because we are trying this detergent for the first time and by my good luck I picked a box with no scoop in it. I tried using the leftover scoop from my last box of Tide HE, but judging on the staggering amount of suds this was way, way too much.

The size of your dose will depend on how hard or soft your water is, how dirty your clothes are, etc. You might try the suggested dose for a medium size load. If the laundry doesn't seem clean enough, then use more the next time.

I tried the Kirkland's/Costco liquid, a couple years ago, and noticed the larger dose for "he" machines than top load. That made absolutely no sense to me. I gave away the detergent.
It gets good ratings for cleaning, in that popular consumer's magazine, but I won't support a company that has dosing on their label that suggests twice as much for a 'he' washer that uses a fraction of the amount of water.

Yes of course, dosing always requires adjustment based on many factors. I am looking for a starting point...
