How far away from house do I plant a climber?
Comments (5)I'm in zone 6b and grow Sally over a small entrance to my kitchen garden. I has only gotten to about 8 or 9 feet in as many years, but it only gets about 3 or 4 hours of afternoon sun. It has wonderful bloom in the spring and a little latter on. My point is that it is not very vigorous with me and I'm not sure that it will reach the bedroom windows. Perhaps someone who grows it in more sun may have a comment as well. But then that asks the questions how much sun do you get on your front wall and how much black spot can you tolerate. Best, Nick...See Morewhat do you think of this tree for a climber?
Comments (2)Sorry, I tried to think of everything that you'd want to know. It's some sort of maple--not sure what kind exactly. It's at least 40 feet tall. I also have veilchenblau living in the pot ghetto--forgot to mention that one, too....See MoreHow do you feel about honeymoon registries?
Comments (54)I like registries. Seems like the only weddings I go to are the children of friends, or friends of my son. I don't know what their personal style is anymore. And usually you know only one half of the happy couple. lol As a matter of fact, the last wedding we went to was in November. My best friend from high school, and her hubby who is my husband's employer, it was their son. I don't know Matt anymore, and the registry was great. I went to Target and bought a LOT of kitchen gadgets that they had listed. It was a ball! And I wrapped the gift in three boxes using tan contracter's paper, with brown, gold and green ribbons and bows. Each box was smaller than the next, and I built a tower. I LOVE gift wrapping. It's the ONLY time that a bride (and Matt, lol) THANKED ME at the wedding reception for the cool wrapping! I was introduced to the bride and she was so excited that I took the time to wrap the gift in their wedding colors! LOL (got the colors from the invitation) A honeymoon registry, well sounds odd, I've never heard of one. Very intersting. I would rather send money. I was thinking that this was done through a travel agency. But I checked the link and I guess I was wrong! I know that these companies need $$$ to keep going, but I don't want 10% or more of my gift going to someone else. I just as soon give cash to the couple. Jannie, I love ya', I do, but I think it is kind of sad that it took you 32 years to get over someone wearing a specific color to your wedding. I have no problem with anyone wearing any color they want to, to celebrate with me. I wore black and white to Matt's wedding, and his Mom was wearing a gorgeous black velvet formal dress....See MoreFlorentina and Honeymoon climbers own root?
Comments (8)I knew it. I knew there was no graft there. Well I'm very pleased as doc doesn't do well for me down here and vigorous roses like many of the kordes do better on their own roots for me. I live in a warm climate so many of the Kordes are pretty vigorous for me, usually my problem with them is them going vegetative, and not producing blooms, no problems with vigor or disease for the most part. I have one florentina on fortuniana that I just received from K&M and that one has buds all over. I cant wait for it to bloom. I just potted up my own root florentina in a very very large pot with some excellent organic potting mix (Dr.Earth something or other) and cant wait to see it take off either. Honeymoon I put in the ground near a large 8 foot fence in very well amended soil so we'll see how she does. I also have Jasmina coming in on its own roots as a quart....See Moreoldrosarian
