Question re tub for awkward space for bathroom redo
Comments (8)Thanks for the info on the tub-- we remodeled master bath about 4-5 yrs ago in home we owned but rented to our son--we neeed to find a smaller tub for space that the acrylic soaker was in-- ordered it at Ferguson's and think it was AS--was a fiberglass tub--not my favorite but wasn't that expensive and fit the space... Maybe if my husband sees there are no nice small tubs he will agree to the shower upgrade We are familiar with aging in place stuff--house we bought in TX has roll in showers in both downstairs bathrooms and some other features... but thanks for the link This shows the entrance into part of bath with tub and shower the area just to left of pocket door is linen closet--then the small shower--the toilet is on that exterior wall-- I think there might be room to extend the side of the shower closest to toilet a foot or so which can make a difference in such small space...but it would make toilet sort of lopsided on the wall spacing......See MoreWall Material Above Tub Surround

Comments (2)I have had a bathtub spout with the handheld shower above it. You can also simply replace a regular shower head with the hand held which has the flexible jointed metal water hose (or what ever they are called). The big box stores carry them. Since you don't have a shower over head, you can only get a deck mount, which I also had. It sat next to the roman tub spout and the metal hose sat behind the false front. As an alternative, go to Wal-Mart and buy the blue & white scrubber on the extendable handle for reaching the far sides of the tub. They also sell replacement heads. Sold by the mops? I use this in my roman tub. Works great, easy, cheap....See MoreBasement bathroom tub install
Comments (2)I'm a DIY engineer, not a plumber, here's what I know: You can install air chambers in the lines (hot / cold) before the faucet. If you are going to get this inspected, make sure that the faucet is legal in your city. Some locales specify the brass in the faucet must be low lead brass. I don't know about two handled faucets - here again everything is going towards anti-scald, one handled faucets. Maybe it's OK for tubs only. I would check it out. You could put poly on the studs, and then install 2' cement board. I would use glue for vinyl flooring....See MoreHouse Vixen
