Looking for Feedback on Layout for Vacation Home Kitchen
Comments (4)I love the concept of your design! It really sounds so well thought out. The general layout reminds me of the HGTV dream home from this past year. It was a mountain view, but the idea was similar and if you have not seen it, you might enjoy taking a look. I have only two ideas to suggest. I, personally would need a trash pullout in the immediate vicinity of the dishwasher and main sink. I would not want to dribble across the floor to discard the stuff I wipe out of the sink drain basket. I am a little picky about smells, and am not sure about your other trash area being below the oven - bacteria grows quickly in warmth. Best of luck, and may your family have great joy in your new vacation get away kitchen....See Moreneed some feedback: kitchen layout round 2
Comments (5)just an update - I realized that if I went with the miele integrated fridges I could get more room for my coat closet/cleaning supplies closet. So now instead of the subzero 27" columns I think I'm going to get the 18" freezer 30" fridge miele combo. The freezer has 8 cu ft. which whhile nothing compared to the 16 cu ft of the subzero will be ample freezer storage for us. this gets me 6 more inches! whohooo!!! The fabricator finally called the stone yard and put a hold on my calacatta gold and I'm hoping to get pictures of the slabs soon so I can figure out how many I'll need (I want as much swaths of white without too much veining as possible) and I got the finishes from henrybuilt. very pretty quartersewn walnut.......See MoreI'd love some feedback on this kitchen layout!
Comments (111)One more question for you. The window in the former kitchen is already framed in and I am getting ready to place the order for the windows. It was framed at 72" wide by 54" high to make room for the counter. Now that we are moving the kitchen, do you think I should make that window 72" wide by 72" high instead. It is an easy fix. Windows are set at 8'2" with 10 foot ceilings. Just curious of your thoughts. If we put a counter and cabinets on that dining wall, it would make sense to have a window that height. But if we don't, I am worried that it will look weird. What do you guys think?...See MoreKitchen remodel help - looking for layout feedback and advice
Comments (2)Hi Patricia, Thanks for your feedback. Yes, sounds like a real kitchen designer may be helpful, perhaps more than the free Traemand/IKEA kitchen designer. Do you have advice about how to find a kitchen designer who specializes in IKEA components? Most KDs I found are generalists who are more used to working with custom cabinet makers than IKEA. Inspired Kitchen Design is the main one that pops up time and time again when I search for IKEA kitchen design but I can't tell if they are going to be about the same as the IKEA KD. Also, what's the expected price range of a KD that specializes in IKEA kitchens? I found some designers who charge more than what I expect the IKEA cabinets would cost and I wondered if that's normal and expected....See MoreRyan
