a nice message to our new family ..... ?

I'd like to find a message/card to send to the new family of our son's in-laws...

something like... we'd like to welcome them in to our family now as well as theirs as our children start a new life & family together!

I have no idea how to find something? poem or something already printed to express this better than I can!

Thanks for any ideas!

I think the way you put it was better than any poem you'd find written by someone else.

Do you live close enough to get together with them? Have you met before? Did the couple just get engaged, or are they already married?

Yes, we have met them & the wedding is in a couple months. I just hoped to find something nicely printed for this (I am no good with words or making something!) I shall try some of the local card shops & see if they might have something .... The wedding is in a couple of months so I guess I have some time yet. So often the in-laws on both sides are not acknowledged in the blending of the two families & I wondered if someone else had done this?

Oh definitely, mongo, I wouldn't use the super tsunami on glass! :) I didn't think you meant that, don't worry. I know Alpha makes a wide range of products (I used their polishing pads too, on the silestone edges -- how much fun is that?! :)) Thanks for the clue about cutting entire sheets of mosaic--that helps a lot wrt future plans. I haven't tried to cut the painted-on-the-back kind, haven't even bothered considering them seriously because there were so many others I liked (through colored), but I had heard that they were the toughest because folks kept having delamination issues with the paint/foil etc. on the back, even mosaicists. It interacts with some adhesives, as well. Pharoah, I just looked up on the Alpha website and I don't see the Super Tsunami anymore! I see the Typhoon, I did find it listed in a catalogue, though, as coming in 8" and 10" (see below) I could see the glass tile blades at Alpha, too: http://www.alpha-tools.com/SearchResults.aspx Do you use the Vetro, mongo? Linda, he's beautiful. Ashley adopted a German Shepherd too, his name was Rex. He gets called everything anyway, as my family is wont to do, mostly he gets called "Doofus". Buster, of course, has become the WonderDoodle. The WonderWeiner was Actually "Annie's Lucky in Love", his name was supposed to be "Lucky", but he became WeinerDog, then WeinerKing, then Wonderweiner. Cooper has become Noops, my neice called him "nooper" but I mostly call him "baby" I think you should name him whatever you want, although I also like Bullet, being a Roy Rogers/Trigger fan, LOL. He's beautiful and I'm happy for both of you. Ann T, I didn't know you'd gotten another dog after Stetson, I'm happy for you too and I didn't really think Karen would get another dog after Captain, but she did too. Glad to hear the good news. I totally get the heart-stopping feeling. When my now 4 1/2 year old twin grandsons were born at 36 weeks, one spent 1 week in the NICU then another week in the step-down unit. The other twin had blood and bilirubin issues and spent 2 weeks in the NICU, where they performed a total blood transfusion at 8 days old, then 2 weeks in the step-down and then we spent the next year running back and forth to hematologists and pulmonologists. I'm always happy to see a rescued animal get a home. One concern though, with the looks of Dox in her, it's usually a bad idea to get them used to sitting up. Their backs often can't take it for very long and seeing a dog with a bad back and the resulting pain is heart-wrenching. A friend's vet told her to stop her Dox from sitting up. She somehow decided it was better begging sitting up! Winston will probably adapt! At least he's (apparently) not attacking the newcomer!

I would send them a little gift -- something you make or bake would be ideal, but it doesn't have to be -- or some flowers or a plant, with an accompanying note that can be nice and short. Just "So glad we are going to be family. Looking forward to many happy years together. Love, vieja & Mr. vieja" will be plenty and in my opinion much better than a poem, which might feel a bit too much. You can do it now or closer to the wedding. A floral arrangement the weekend of the wedding for their hotel room (or home, if the wedding is in their town) would be fine.
